Looks like Fall is returning to NYC this week and there are lots of fun events happening.

This week get out and enjoy Disney On Ice: 100 Years of Magic at Barclays Center, Veterans Day in Prospect Park, Canstruction: 23rd Annual NYC Competition at Brookfield Place, Lavender Blues at Jñaña Wellness Center, Story Time with PJ Library at Museum of Jewish Heritage, Astolat Dollhouse Castle Unveiling at The Shops at Columbus Circle, Shadow Box Theatre Presents: Little is Big at PS 3 The Bedford Village School, Far Out Kelp Forest with the New York Aquarium at the Greenpoint Brooklyn Public Library, and The 3 Bears Holiday Bash at Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre.

Monday November 9th

Canstruction:  23rd Annual NYC Competition at Brookfield Place (Battery Park)
Ongoing 10a-6p until Monday November 16th.  Free.  Location: 250 Vesey Street.  Canstruction® is an extraordinary annual design competition and the most unique food charity in the world. Teams of architects, engineers, contractors, and the students they mentor compete to build large-scale structures made entirely from full cans of food. The imaginative sculptures are then on view to the public until they are dismantled and donated to City Harvest for distribution to those in need. Admission is free, but visitors are asked to bring a can of high quality food to the exhibition’s collection station.

Very Young People’s Concerts: “Treble and Bass” at Merkin Concert Hall (UWS)
Monday November 9th 1030a.  Tickets: $24-$29.  Discover how high and low sounds make music fun, with selections from J.S. Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 2 and from Ponchielli’s “Dance of the Hours,” from La Gioconda.

Play Space Fall Schedule at Juguemos a Cantar North Slope
M-F 2-5p.  $10 per visit / Sibling $2 per visit.  Play passes also available.  Indoor play space reopens starting November 9th.  There is also an indoor play space at Juguemos a Cantar South Slope which is open M-F 9a-12n.

Tuesday November 10th

Lavender Blues at Jñaña Wellness Center (Boerum Hill)
Tuesdays 4p.  $15/drop-in.  Lavender Blues is an intimate music & movement session for babies and toddlers. During our 40 minute classes kids develop an understanding of rhythm and music, build awareness and control of their body as well as develop social and coordination skills—all while singing, dancing and having fun!  We sit in a circle, sing songs, play instruments, have movement with our fingers, arms and feet, as well as march, dance, and play with a ginormous parachute!!   All of our classes are drop in, so that you may pay as you go! Classes are also available in 10 pack bundles!  See the website for more locations and information on pack bundles.

Brooklyn South Special Education Family Engagement Night (Bay Ridge)
Tuesday November 10th 530-830.  Free.  Registration is required.  Register here or contact your school’s Parent Coordinator.  Location:  Bay Ridge Elementary School for the Arts.  The Department of Education is hosting this event for families with disabilities.  DOE representatives will be available to answer questions regarding all the programs available and how to access the programs.

Disney On Ice: 100 Years of Magic at Barclays Center (Prospect Heights)
Tuesday November 10th 7p and ongoing at various times until November 15th.  See website for more information on times and ticket prices.  Grab your Mickey ears and get ready for the ultimate Disney experience at Disney On Ice celebrates 100 Years of Magic Presented by Stonyfield YoKids Organic Yogurt comes to Brooklyn from November 10 – November 15! Be charmed by a cast of over 50, with Mouse-ter of Ceremonies Mickey Mouse, sweetheart Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Disney Princesses including Cinderella, Rapunzel, Ariel, Snow White and Tiana. Relive the magic of Disney’s Frozen with Anna, Elsa and the hilarious Olaf as they discover that true love is the greatest magic of all. Wednesday November 11th

Sing-Along with Lucy Kalantari at OS Cafe (Park Slope)
Wednesdays 10a.  $5/per family (suggested donation).  Sing and dance to jazzy tones guaranteed to make you smile.  OS Cafe in Park Slope have a cute play space downstairs, and yummy treats upstairs.

Veterans Day in Prospect Park
Tuesday November 11th 12n-3p.  Free.  Join the Prospect Park Alliance for Veterans Day programming at Lefferts Historic House and the Audubon Center.  Nature Exploration, 12n-3p at the Prospect Park Audubon Center.  Join the Prospect Park Alliance for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.  Bird Nerds Game Hour, 1–2 pm: Test your knowledge of birds in this fun, mildly competitive hour of puzzles, Bingo, card games, and more!  Nature on the Go!, 2–3 pm: An Alliance naturalist will lead children and families to areas near the Audubon Center, where you can learn about the nature that is all around us and participate in a Citizen Science project.  Animal Encounter, 3–330p: Want to watch the snake gobble up a mouse? Join Alliance Naturalists in learning more about the animals in the Audubon Center’s collection and even assist in an actual feeding.  Discovery Pack, 12–3p: The Prospect Park Alliance invites you to get inspired by nature with our new Discovery Packs, a ready-to-go kits filled with nature activities for families.  Also Race Around the Farm Yard, 1–3 pm at Lefferts Historic House, $3 suggested donation.  Get out and get moving in the Lefferts yard! The whole family can participate in potato sack races, spoon races, stilts, and other old fashioned games.

Wednesday November 11th from 330-415p.  Free—Drop-In.  Future Story Time dates: December 2 and 16, January 6 and 20, February 3 and 17, March 2, 16, and 30, April 13, May 4 and 18, June 1.  Come hear warm, whimsical tales about traditions, holidays, and families from some of today’s best storybooks for children ages 0-4.

Thursday November 12th

Shadow Box Theatre Presents: Little is Big at PS 3 The Bedford Village School (Bedford Stuyvesant)
Thursday November 12th 1030a and weekdays until Wednesday December 23rd.  For individual tickets $10 in advance/$15 at the door.  Group: $8.  For more info and reservations call 212-724-0677.  Recommended for pre-K to 3rd grade.  In an enchanted landscape beneath the sea, the little fish Spinny and his friends face up to a big bully of a fish – and find courage, tolerance, and the true meaning of friendship. Following the puppet show, the audience joins in an inspiring “Sing Out for Peace”.

Far Out Kelp Forest with the New York Aquarium at the Brooklyn Public Library (Greenpoint)
Thursday November 12th 330-430p.  Free.  Journey to the west coast of the United States and dive in to explore the unique, underwater kelp forest ecosystem. Much like forests on land — kelp forests are full of life that is found nowhere else in the world! To explore these underwater forests, we will bring the kelp forest to you, introduce some live animal ambassadors that would call the kelp forest home, and uncover how this habitat impacts our lives.

Astolat Dollhouse Castle Unveiling at The Shops at Columbus Circle (UWS)
Thursday November 12th 5p.  Free.  Appraised at $8.5 million, The Astolat Dollhouse Castle will be on public display this holiday season at The Shops of Columbus Circle at Time Warner Center in Manhattan for the first time ever since being built in the 1980s. On November 12, the unveiling of the “dollhouse” will coincide with Time Warner Center’s lighting of its “Holiday Under the Stars” at 5 p.m., the largest specialty crafted exhibit of illuminated color mixing in the world featuring twelve 14-foot stars that hang from the ceiling of the 150-foot Great Room overlooking iconic Central Park.  The Astolat Dollhouse Castle will be on display daily on the second floor Mezzanine through December 8 during retail store hours (check www.theshopsatcolumbuscirlce.com for details). Admission to both the Astolat Dollhouse Castle and star viewing is free, courtesy of The Shops at Columbus Circle. Voluntary donations to benefit multiple children’s charities are greatly appreciated given that is the real world mission of the dollhouse and can be made online at www.dollhousecastle.com

The 3 Bears Holiday Bash at Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre (Central Park)
Tuesday November 10th – Wednesday December 30th.  Showtimes are Monday – Friday 1030a & 12n with additional shows Wednesdays at 230p and Saturday and Sunday at 1p.  Tickets are $7/children and $10/adults.   The Three Bears Holiday Bash is a variety show that celebrates the holiday season in song, dance and puppetry. This production quickly becomes a comedy of errors when Baby Bear invites Santa to star in Mama and Papa Bear’s annual holiday show. The audience also gets to join in on the fun with a “12 days of Christmas” sing-a-long during the performance! Purchase tickets here.

Play Time at Play Kids (Prospect Lefferts Gardens)
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 1-3p.  $10/child.  For ages 0-3y.  Open Play sessions offer a fun and affordable way to get together with other children and parents/caregivers. Children share playtime with age-appropriate toys (balls, cars, blocks, puzzles) while building connections with each other. Save money by buying a Class Pass, one free class and bring a friend.

WEE Arts Drop-in Session at the Children’s Museum of the Arts (South Village)
Monday-Friday: 1045a-12p & Wednesdays 145-3p, $25 per family ($20 for members).  Want to stay longer? General admission is just $6 per person after drop-in.  Music time! Story time! Art time! Join CMA’s WEE teaching artists for an art-filled drop-in session before we open our doors to the public. Parent and/or caregivers are required to join and we encourage family collaboration throughout the class. No sign up required.

Playgroup at Bija Kids (Clinton Hill)
Monday-Thursday 330-5p until May 29, 2016.  For ages 0-3y.  Drop-in – $15 first child/$7 additional child or 10 pack/10 visits $120 or $200 (family of 2 or more children pack).  Packs expire 3 months of date of purchase.  After a nap and lunch, but before bath and dinner, come to hang out and play with other 0-3 year olds at Bija​. With parents or caregivers present, little ones explore puzzles, instruments, books, and plush toys in a warm, safe, and enriching environment. One our our dynamic teachers leads an enrichment activity each afternoon 430-5p. Expect bubbles, parachute, paint, and more!  Spots are available on a first come, first serve basis.  Bija has a changing table and child size toilets perfect for potty training!  There is stroller parking but please fold up the strollers to accommodate all the families.  Playgroup requires that a parent or caregiver be present within the space.  Register one time only here.

Sensory Room Family Hours at Brooklyn Children’s Museum (Crown Heights)
Tuesdays & Thursdays & Saturday-Sunday 2-445p.  For all ages. Free with museum admission.  The Sensory Room is an inclusive space where children of all abilities can engage with their peers and explore their senses. This room provides a welcoming environment for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

Play Space at LuLu’s then & now (Park Slope/Gowanus)
Daily (excluding holidays) from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.  Please allow us time between 1pm and 2pm for maintenance.  Rates: $12 per session (10am-1pm or 2pm to 5pm) for the first child and $6 for siblings. Or, purchase a 10-pack for $105.  Admission to events at the Play Space is on first come first serve basis.  Our Play Space is a beautiful room filled with innovative, stimulating, modern toys and a well curated library for your tot to explore, imagine and create with.  Please review the rules here before coming to the Play Space.
