WoodShop is a Hit in Brooklyn

We caught up with the super lady behind WoodShop, Cora Byrne. She is currently holding these awesome classes for kids at two venues in Brooklyn:

1. Curiosity on Court, Price is $35 plus 50% discount off Open Play. Schedule is HERE.

2. La Cigogne, a great restaurant on Union between Henry & Clinton.  Classes are every Monday 11.30-12.30.    Price is also $35 per artist, and includes mac & cheese and juice/water.

The concept of WoodShop is simple.  Kids get to make and/or decorate something from wood – no hammers, nails or weapons of mass destruction – their tools are paints, markers, crayons and most important- imagination!   As a mom, Cora says, “I loved how much fun my son had at art classes in preschool, but the end result was not always something I wanted to hang around.  I felt like a bad mother if I tried to dispose of any of it too!   So when it came to researching products for WoodShop I wanted to ensure that we began with something beautifully crafted that could only be improved by the vision of our young artists!”

The wooden toys/puzzles WoodShop offers are both home grown, and internationally sourced.  They work with Maple LandMark in Vermont, a 35-year-old family company making wooden toys and gifts from the forests of the Green Mountains.

Cora Byrne will also do your entire birthday party and work with you on themes and decor. WoodShop’s parties are offered, as well, at Curiosity on Court, and at Monkey Do! Yoga.

When I asked Cora about WoodShop doing kids’ parties, she answered, “I have a range of projects to suit almost every theme.  The kids usually get to make two things and price varies but the average is $20 per child.  In one instance I’m actually planning the entire party for the mom – decor, food and entertainment!”
