If you’re searching for something fun to do that goes beyond the playground, movie theater, or typical playdate, you may want to consider visiting Brooklyn’s first cat cafe. Although the idea of eating anything around a bunch of cats in an enclosed space honestly kind of makes me cringe (I feel the hairball already forming in my throat), picturing my five year old daughter at a place like this- loving the furry creatures and squealing with delight- definitely brings me a smile. Maybe just a little seltzer from a straw while you chill with the cats would do?
It’s called the The Brooklyn Cat Cafe, and it’s at 149 Atlantic Avenue. It’s run by the Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition. Admission is $5 for a half hour, and those ages 3 and under are free. Adoption is encouraged, so get ready for the questions to begin if you should decide to visit.
The cafe will be open to the general public starting Saturday May 7th at 11 a.m. After that, Brooklyn Cat Cafe’s public hours will be Wednesday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
