On May 18, Brooklyn Public Library will host a free, day-long conference for the families and caregivers of children and teens with autism. Looking Ahead to Help Your Child with Autism Succeed will help parents and caregivers develop strategies for individuals with autism to thrive in the home, school, workplace and community. Author and autism expert Michael John Carley will deliver the conference’s keynote address.
The conference, hosted by BPL’s Child’s Place for Children and Teens with Special Needs, will feature expert-led breakout sessions on topics like safety, employment, self-advocacy, assistive technology and sexuality/relationships.
Looking Ahead to Help Your Child with Autism Succeed is co-sponsored by the New York City Department of Education, the Children Services Committee of the Brooklyn Developmental Disabilities Council, the Brooklyn Early Childhood Direction Center and District 75.
It will take place on Wednesday, May 18, from 9 am – 2 pm at the Dweck Center, Central Library at 10 Grand Army Plaza, in our wonderful borough of Brooklyn.
