Sprinkler time is here, everyone! We don’t want to overwhelm you with a list that’s too long (Brooklyn’s playgrounds all have sprinklers, pretty much) so here’s a consolidated one for you- we personally vouch for all of these at A Child Grows, and have made sure that these are places that will inspire and delight both kids and their parents. Make sure to pack water shoes, treats to eat, a dry change of clothes, and a bucket:
The Third Street Playground, Prospect Park
Super cute and tucked away, it’s like being in the country to come here. Walking through the park to get there is the best as well, as you can smell the fresh air thanks to all of the trees. Worth the trip, by far. The sprinklers are half circles that are really awesome for the kids to run through.
Harmony Playground, Prospect Park
Although there’s not much shade here, it’s worth it! The sprinklers are creatively constructed to make it really fun for the kids to run around in, and they can feel like they’re doing something super cool by running through the spray of these awesome scultures.
Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 6 Water Lab
Try to come here during the week, because it’s a bit of a mad house on weekends. But SO worth it on a chill, spacious day. Lots of yummy food places right there, too.
South Oxford Park, Fort Greene
Totally artistic in its construction, this playground’s sprinklers are shaped like giant cat tails. It’s so adorable and hidden right near Atlantic Ave. and Target. You would never guess that this precious place is right in there!
There’s a giant cement turtle here that the kids can climb on, and little ones around it, too. Super cute, there is shade if needed in most parts near the sprinkler, and a giant playground right there, too.
This is a charming, small, sweet place. You can relax in the shade that, thankfully, is everywhere here. McGolrick Park is truly beautiful, and the trees are rare, old, and majestic.
Underwood Playground, Clinton Hill
The sprinklers here are just perfect. They provide big fun for even the littlest guests, and there’s a nice side ledge on which parents can sit and watch the babes splashing. Bring a plastic cup, water balloons, or a toy.
LeFrak Center Splash Pad at Lakeside in Prospect Park
The piece de resistance of our list! This place rocks and you will be amazed by how fun it is- it’s sweet to see how architecture and nature come together to bring so much fun.
Enjoy your summer, everyone!
XOXO
