Brooklyn’s Own Mom in Balance

Let’s face it, some sort of a fitness routine should be a necessary part of life as a (happy and functional) mom. It can be hard to go to a gym though, where one may feel self conscious, bored on a machine, or just not in the mood for the “scene” that is the gym. What better incentive is there than to meet other sweet, awesome moms to work out with? We recently caught wind of a new addition to Brooklyn via the Netherlands- Mom in Balance – and we thought we’d ask its Founder, Verena Schiml, a little bit about what it’s all about. 

Mom in Balance offers three different workouts:

  1. The Pregnancy Workout, to stay fit and healthy during pregnancy.

2. The Back in Shape Workout, to recover and get fit and strong again after giving birth.

3. The Mom in Shape Workout for busy moms who want to stay active and fit during motherhood.

Mom in Balance moms are a network of ambitious, positive women, who connect through sports. When we asked Verena to tell us about herself, she said, “I am a mother of two boys (aged 5 and 7) and I lived with my family in the Netherlands for the last 6 years. Before my kids, I worked as a Account Manager in Marketing for over 10 years. Being pregnant with my first and then moving to the Netherlands, I decided to do a career switch! I always loved sports, I was a competitive swimmer in my youth and sport always played an important role in my life. So the logical step for me was studying to become a personal trainer and build up my own personal training business for some years.”

Schiml explains, “I also became a trainer for Mom in Balance in Amsterdam for the last 4 years, which I loved. And I am really looking forward to give trainings in New York.  I also experienced it myself, how important it is to stay fit as a mom, that sport is not only good for staying in shape, but also to relax and connect with other women in the same situation and also to have some “me” time in the early, busy years with small kids. That’s what I would love to experience the moms and moms-to-be in New York too! I would like to invite you to our week of free trials:
