It’s that time again… Spring Recess is coming up in a few weeks! If you’re still looking for something for the kids to do, here are a few of our favorite spring break camps to check out:

Brooklyn Game Lab – Spring Break Lab starts with their twist on chess, and continues with strategic board games. Kids use their design and analytic skills and modify the games and create new rules. If weather allows, they spend an hour in the Park for outdoor game play. The afternoon concludes with role playing games, design time, and free play. Sign up for a full week or just a few days! [Ages: 6-14 / Dates: March 30, April 2-6]

 

Brooklyn Robot Foundry – Robotics camp that offers engineering skills and actual robot making at Atlantic Avenue and South Slope locations during spring break. They share knowledge of mechanical engineering and electrical principles with kids in a fun and engaging way. Kids will build, decorate and take home 2 projects per day! [Ages: K-5th Grade / Dates: March 30th – April 6th]

 

The Geek Forest – This is a Makerspace where people can gather for experimental STEAM projects, collaborations, self-learning, making, exploring, sharing & tinkering. They are a multi-faced retail store focusing on robotics, electronics,DIY kits, wearables, etc. for the maker community. They utilize Maker Education models for after school, intensive summer workshops, adult workshops, teen meet ups, and free family workshops and events. [Ages: K-6th Grade / Dates: April 2-April 6]

 

Musication– Each week of Musication Camp explores a different theme. For “Music From Around The World” they explored the sounds and instruments from a new country each day like China, Brazil and Mexico. “Discovering Different Music Styles” week featured a different artist each day as they explored their particular style of music like reggae for Bob Marley and Jazz for Charlie Parker. [Ages: 3-6 / Dates: April 2-6]

 

SKATEYOGI – Their mission is to spread the love of skateboarding to all ages. Campers do lots of skateboarding at their home base and explore Prospect Park, the city’s skateparks and spots (weather permitting). SKATEYOGI’s indoor skate space is clean, air-conditioned and fully equipped with skateboards and safety gear reserved for student’s complimentary use. [Ages: 6-12 / Dates: Mon – Fri, March 19 – April 6 / Pick Your Day(s)]

 

Asphalt Green Mini-Camps – Their mini-camps incorporate swim, sports, fitness and recreational activities to keep child active, learning, and moving all day. Activities may include swimming, martial arts, soccer, basketball, yoga, art, music, and more. [Ages: 4-12 / Dates: March 19 – March 23, March 26 – March 30, April 2-6]

 

Bija Kids – This camp utilizes activities, play, trips, books, songs, and the campers own interests and insights to great a “great big experience.” They may go to sprinklers in the park on hot days or stay inside making instruments, cooking blueberry-peach compote, and exploring art on rainy days. Learning happens through visual art, music, movement, science, and social studies explorations. [Ages: 3-5 / Dates: April 2-6]

 

Child’s Play NY–  “Do Good Friday: The Sound of Music” is a half-day vacation camp that allows kids to become their favorite Von Trapp kid and learn through imaginative play. 50% of tuition goes to Drama Club– a non-profit organization that provides theatre programming to incarcerated and court-involved young people in New York City. [Ages: 3-6 / Date: March 30th]

 

Green Apron Kitchen – This cooking camp is for kids who aspire to be the next Food Network Star.  They will learn different cooking and baking techniques each day and apply those skills and their creativity as they make dishes with secret ingredients and tools for each challenge. They also get the chance to learn some new skills, have fun with new friends, and enjoy some delicious dishes along the way. [Ages 5+ / Dates: April 2-6]

 

Kensington Stables Pony Club – Campers get daily horseback riding lessons at the stable located near Prospect Park. In this program, the children learn hands-on about caring for the horses and the barn. In addition, children will enjoy horse themed arts & crafts and games.
