Prospect Park Gets Upgrades

Prospect Park plans to restore the entrance at Flatbush Avenue and add two new entrances along Flatbush Avenue for pedestrians visiting the park. The restoration project will improve the current entrance and restore it to it’s former glory. It will replace the old concrete and improve the fence around the entrance. The new entrances will further enhance the park’s appearance and make it a welcoming space for families.

Keeping the Historic Charm

When you visit Prospect Park, you will notice an interesting element of historic charm.  The park’s long history started in the 1860’s and the goal was to create a space for the people living in Brooklyn to gather and enjoy throughout the year. The park has more than 500 acres of land and green space for residents of Brooklyn to explore and enjoy.

The first time I stepped into the park, I was excited to see the history that surrounds the park. You get a feeling of peace that stems from the work involved throughout the 1860’s and beyond to create a stunning green space. By restoring the entrance at Flatbush Avenue, the park will maintain that historic element without allowing the entrance to appear damaged or worn down from time. The Prospect Park Alliance plans to start with the entrances and eventually re-envision the former Rose Garden and restore the woodlands to further maintain it’s historic charm.

Adding to the Beauty

The restoration project is only part of the exciting changes we will see in the park. The construction of two new entrances, which is funded by Parks Without Borders, will add to the beauty of the park. Pedestrians walking to the park along Flatbush Avenue will enjoy the new entrance and the fun designs that add a touch of modern aesthetics to the park.

Prospect Park is a beautiful place to visit and enjoy throughout the year. By restoring the entrances at Flatbush Avenue and constructing new entrances to the park, it ties the modern era with the historic charm of previous generations. It is time for a change to the park and these projects will give it a updated look without changing your memories of a charming green space.
