Look no farther than 826NYC, a creative writing and tutoring organization in Park Slope that offers bookmaking birthday parties to fill your child’s wildest writing and publishing dreams.
Bookmaking and Storytelling Parties
826NYC’s Storytelling and Bookmaking Parties take place in their Secret Library, a large brick and book-lined room hidden behind the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Store on 5th Avenue. Held on Saturdays from 10:00am-12:00pm or 1:00-3:00pm, Storytelling and Bookmaking Parties take guests on a literary journey as they create a book from scratch. In the span of each two-hour party the birthday child and their guests will learn about the process of writing and publishing a book by collaboratively crafting a story featuring the birthday child as the main character. Led by 826 staff, party guests will work together to write a fun, quirky, humorous, and perhaps superhero-filled story that will then be illustrated and bound by the 826 birthday party team. Guests will have a chance to illustrate the covers of their books and watch as each book is bound in real time. Each party guest will leave with a personalized copy of the book, featuring their author photo on the back and cover design on the front.

After the story wraps, guests join in celebrating the birthday child’s special day with cake and receive a goodie bag of miscellaneous trinkets from the Superhero Supply Store.
The Storytelling and Bookmaking Party Package runs at $500 and includes the storytelling activity for up to ten kids (each additional child is $10), along with pizza or bagels, cake, drinks, and goodie bags from the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Store. Storytelling and Bookmaking Parties are offered for children in first grade and above and are best for 10-15 guests, though larger parties can be accommodated.

Birthday Party Space Rental
Have a child younger than first grade or are interested in a different type of birthday party? 826NYC also offers their Secret Library for basic space rentals at a rate of $250 for two hours of use of the space (40-50 people). Available times for space rental parties are also Saturday 10:00am-12:00pm or 1:00-3:00pm.
