What to Expect at the 2019 Brooklyn Baby & Family Expo

It’s that time again…The 7th Annual Brooklyn Baby and Family Expo is coming up on April 11th, 3-7:30 PM at 501 Union in Gowanus. As always, it will be a great event filled with family fun and resources for expecting parents and parents of young kids. And we are so excited to tell you about all the new activities and exhibitors this year!

We’ll have dozens of local and national exhibitors that provide essential services, products, and resources for every stage of family life as well as a great lineup of expert seminars on child development, breastfeeding, cloth diapering, nursery design and organization, newborn sleep and swaddling. We’ll even have a special surprises for soon-to-be moms! (Hint: massages and mocktails.)

But the expo isn’t just for expecting parents…there will be so many exhibitors for the whole family and fun activities for kids including a children’s playspace, pop-up children’s bookstore, demo classes with NY Kids Club and Prospect Park Y, sing-a-long with grammy-winning artist Lucy Kalantari, reading of BABY FEMINISTS, prizes and more. All for less than the price of a playspace! 

Expo Exhibitors

There will be so many amazing exhibitors and experts at the expo to help expecting parents get ready for their expanding family and the amazing experiences ahead… buy buy Baby will be there to talk about all the baby products that you will need. If you need help organizing your home and setting up a nursery, Simplify Storage will be there to tell you about their great valet storage service that can help you make room for the new addition to your life, while Sweeten and Urban Clarity also have great services to help you prepare your home for a little one.

If you are looking for a doula and other childbirth services, For Your Birth will be there to talk about their great childbirth education, doula services, breastfeeding consultations and more. Evercord can tell you all about cord blood banking and how you can protect your family’s future health from birth. And you should definitely check out Diaperkind’s cloth diapering service and other resources to make diapering more sustainable and manageable for parents.

As expecting parents, we know that your child’s health is the highest priority. If you are looking for a great pediatrician, Tribeca Pediatrics will be there to talk to you about their incredibly expansive and well-respected network of neighborhood pediatricians all over the city. And while you are considering the many options for feeding your child, Kabrita will be there to talk about the advantages of the naturally easy-to-digest goat milk formula. Little Spoon can also show you the fresh, organic baby food that they deliver right to your door… what could be better for busy parents that want the best nutrition for their baby?

Has your child had their first dental checkup? Talk to Happy KiDDS Dental about early dental care and how they make going to the dentist fun for kids at their neighborhood offices in Carroll Gardens and Hoboken. For families in Manhattan, Kidz Smile Center will also be there to tell you how they can make your kid’s first dental visits stress-free and enjoyable for everyone.

Exhibitors offer helpful services and resources for families at every stage…Jeff Zorabedian from JDZ Photography will be there to show you his work and talk about how he can tell your family’s story with photos. If you are interested in learning more about how your little one develops, the NYU ISLAND Lab will be there to talk about their studies on early child development and you can even hear their director Dr. Natalie Brito speaking on young childhood memory and cognitive development. The Lab for the Developing Mind at NYU will also be at the expo to give you the chance to participate in science and understand how your child learns. 

Stressed about money? New York Life Agent Jaime Kobin will be there to help you plan for your family’s financial future and talk about life insurance, retirement planning, and college funding. Merrill Lynch Financial Advisor Daniel Levin will also be there to provide information and resources on personal finance for young families. The Swoondle Society can tell you about their great online community of parents where you can trade in your child’s clothes for bigger sizes as they grow–and get the most value out of their clothes. And Green Mountain Energy can help you affordably switch to 100% renewable energy.

Of course we will have baby classes and childcare providers too! The Learning Experience will be there to talk to families about their groundbreaking early education programs based on cognitive, physical, and social educational and care principles. Home Sweet Home will also be at the expo this year to tell you all about their daycare, preschool, and after school programs for kids from 2 months to 12 years old.

NY Kids Club can tell you about their classes and other enrichment programs all over the city for kids as young as 8 weeks old…you can even try out their sample “Babies in Motion” class for infants 4-9 months old in the Kid’s Annex at the expo! Prospect Park YMCA will be there to talk about their many classes, camps, after school programs and other services for the whole family. They will also be doing a demo “Song and Shimmy” sample class for babies up to 4 years old in the Kid’s Annex this year. CHALK Preschool of Cobble Hill will also be there to talk about their brand new preschool with 2, 3 or 5 day/week programs for children ages 2-6. 

Looking for enrichment classes and educational programs for older kids? BLUE Studios can tell you about their amazing STEM programs in coding, aerospace engineering, microbiology and much more for kids of all ages (K-12). And don’t forget to come to the seminar on Building Confident Children through STEM in the Expert’s Lounge!

If you are looking for music programs, check out the amazing Brooklyn Conservatory of Music that offers music instruction, suzuki program, music camps, music therapy and more.  Little Virtuosos is a new option in Windsor Terrace that offers Kindermusik to introduce kids (age 0-7) to the magic of music. Rivendell School is an innovative Montessori school for kids 2-5 years old and Young Judaea Sprout Brooklyn Day Camp offers a great Hebrew dual-language camp for kids from pre-K through 5th Grade.

As your child grows, there will be many special moments to celebrate. iI you need treats for children’s birthday parties or any  other family celebrations, ME Bakes has you covered with their amazing cakes and baked goods. Photographer Julie Sutton will also be there to show you how she can capture those important moments in your life through photos.

Expo Tickets

Don’t forget to register to attend the event! Tickets will be available at the door but some tickets might sell out, so it’s best to secure your spot and get your tickets in advance.

If you are an expecting parent, the Brooklyn Baby and Family Expo will be a memorable and educational day full of resources to help you prepare for the new baby.
