iD Tech

iDTech is technology camp offering advanced STEM education on university campuses worldwide, including Pace, NYU, Marymount Manhattan, NYIT, Columbia, Queens College, and more. They have coding, game development, robotics, and design programs starting for kids as young as 7. Most camps are a week long, but there are choices all summer. Lab’bers play chess, quick play, cooperative, and strategy games. They create new games and modify existing games. They analyze game structure, tinker with rules, create tactics, and collaborate with new friends. They play indoors — and out! Ages 6 – 13 (ages 14 – 16 participate in our Rooks program) in Park Slope, Park Slope South, and TriBeCa. All Summer! They even have single day options.

The Brooklyn Robot Foundry

They kick off their summer season with single, Full Day Sessions from June 17th through July 3rd.  Then switch to Full Week sessions, which will run from July 8th through August 30th. Full Day Sessions will feature both their standard Robot Builders option for children entering K-4th grade, and the Inventors program, for returning students entering 3rd-5th grade, who are ready for the next challenge.  9a-3p, with extended day until 6pm available. New options this year:

  • The standard Robot Builders program, for children entering K-4th grade, will feature two alternating curricula – choose week X or week Z, or both! Each; week features different projects and can be taken in any order; Robot Coding, for children entering 3rd-7th grades, select weeks, featuring hands-on building paired with interactive coding; Robot Inventors program will be offered most weeks, for rising 3rd-5th grade students who meet the prerequisite and are ready to design their own creations. Plus, the popular Girls Week will return to most locations this summer! For those requiring more flexible schedules, they offer partial week options (2 full or 3 half days) at the UES location

The Geek Forest

Maker kids can create, explore, collaborate, and work on tons of interesting projects during the summer of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) at this Maker Education lab. This project-based and problem-based learning approach relies upon hands-on, often collaborative learning experiences as a method for solving authentic problems. They also encourage collaboration and a free flow of ideas during labs on gaming, art & design, robotics, electronics, and coding. Each week includes one morning lab and one afternoon lab along with outdoor time every day.

Tech-oriented kids at all levels will have a great time at this collaborative, team-oriented camp where kids and teens learn to code, design games, make apps, create robotics and animation, 3D printing and more. They focus on a different area of technology each week in project-based workshops that develop critical thinking, literacy and problem solving skills. The daily schedule includes several immersive interactive workshops, free time, and team-building activities in the park. Class sizes are small (6-8 students) and are led by highly qualified instructors in education and technology.

NORY Summer Camp

Their STEM summer camps encourage creativity, innovation, and problem solving. Kids of all ages get to explore robot-building, structural engineering, chemistry and physics through interesting themes like Robotic World, Magic Kingdom, Innovation Around the World, Sports Science, Carpenter’s Land, Animal Kingdom, Galaxy Expedition, Inventing for Good, 2050: Future World, and Game Design. There are several camp options including NORY Robots & Science, which offers a full day of robotics, as well as NORY Soccer & STEM or Swim & STEM, which split time equally between robotics and a sport for more active kids. They also provide lunch (included) from Little Green Gourmets.

Williamsburg Northside Summer Camp

Their Space Explorers Summer Camp allows campers to take an exciting trip to outer space. They get the chance explore the entire solar system with weekly themes like Planets, Stars, Moon, Space Travel, and the Sun while digging deeper into the sun, moon, and stars. Children at the Preschool campus (ages 2-3) are given daily unstructured gross motor time on their rooftop playground along with visits to their community garden and sprinkler set up. Older kids also get plenty of outdoor time and participate in fun enrichment activities like cooking, hip hop, mad science, and robotics. And they get a bonus Spanish and Chinese Immersion week of Space Odyssey.

Kids (K-12) can develop a love of math and learn essential math skills during their two-week summer programs that include fractions, multiplication, algebra, readiness, geometry readiness, and more. Trained teachers use the “Mathnasium Method” to teach kids (K-12) in a fun and constructive way. Their two week summer programs include an assessment, customized learning plan, and ten 60 minute sessions that are drop-in friendly for $199. The free comprehensive assessment allows them to develop a customized learning plan for each child.

KoKo NYC Mini Destroy and Construct Camp

Week-long camps where kids (ages 5-7) explore the neighborhood on a daily scavenger hunt, collect and deconstruct found objects, and use them in daily building projects in the KoKo workshop over the course of the week. KoKo NYC teaching artists promote self-directed, play-based learning and encourage kids to try new experiences safely.

R3 Space

Engineering and coding camps for ages 4-12 with weekly themes like dinosaurs, robots, and animation. They have full days to 6pm and snacks. In Williamsburg.

Camp Coding Space

Coding camp where kids 7-14 years old participate in coding and STEM activities throughout the day. Choose from 1, 2, or 4 week camp sessions. Campers enrolled for 2 or 4 weeks go on a field trip to a local tech company where campers present projects they have been working on and get feedback from engineers.

We selected these camps on based on their STEM curriculum and gave preference to camps that have participated in our Virtual Camp Expo or partnered with us previously. Some camps have chosen to upgrade their listings.
