2019 Fall School Break Camps

What’s your plan for fall school breaks? We know it seems like the school year just started, but it’s time to think about all those one- or two-day school breaks taking place over the next few months. If you need childcare and your kids need something to do, you might want to consider enrolling them in one of the many great school break camps around Brooklyn and beyond.

Here are a few of our favorite fall break camps to check out this year:

Brooklyn Music Factory (Gowanus) –  During one-day songwriting camps, creative kids (ages 4-11) will write a song in just one day with their band mates. The camp includes music games that strengthen music skills (on any instrument) and gives campers the opportunity to create music as a band and jam on instruments in fully equipped studios. They’ll also enjoy outdoor playtime in the park across the street. Dates: September 30th-October 1st (2-day camp), October 9th, November 5th, November 11th / Cost: $149 per day ($243 for 2-day camp)

Brooklyn Robot Foundry (Upper East Side, Tribeca, Boerum Hill, Park Slope) – Their full-day camp sessions encourage kids (K-4th Grade) to use their imagination and develop artistry – while building robots! They learn basic mechanical engineering and electrical principles while creating two robots, which they get to take home at the end of the day. They also get free play and outdoor time every day. Dates: September 30th, October 1st, 9th & 14th, November 5th & 11th / Cost: $120-$200 per day (discounts available for multiple day registration)

SKATEYOGI (Prospect Lefferts Gardens) – At their day camp, kids (ages 6-12) develop and learn new skateboarding skills grouped according to skill levels so that beginners can learn the basics while experienced skaters can learn more advanced techniques and tricks. They explore Prospect Park and and get plenty of time to skate outside (weather permitting) as well as inside the SKATEYOGI indoor facility. Limited enrollment. Gear rental is included. Dates: September 30th, October 1st, October 9th, October 14th, November 5th, November 11th, November 12th, November 28th / Cost: $165 per day

The Geek Forest (Williamsburg/Greenpoint) –  At this makerspace, kids (grades K-5) participate in two maker labs per day with unique themes like “Hogwarts Potions Class” (Maker Science), “Halloween LED Lab” (Maker Electronics) and “Science Comics Lab” (Maker Art/Design). Older kids (Grades 5-8) focus on one Maker Gamer lab each day. The daily routine includes outside playground time in addition to morning and afternoon lab activities. Dates: Dates: September 30th, October 1st, October 9th, October 14th, November 5th, November 11th /  Cost: $150 per day (Grades K-5) or $135 per day (grades 5-8)

Trail Blazers (Prospect Park) – Their fall day camps based in Prospect Park allow kids (Pre-K to 5th Grade) to get outside and explore nature in “Brooklyn’s backyard.” They spend the day exploring the park, learning new songs, and digging into nature. It’s a great way for them to observe the changing of the seasons and enjoy fall weather in the park. Dates: September 30th – October 1st, October 9th, October 14th, November 5th, November 11th / Cost: $50 – $100/day (based on income tier)

The Muse Circus Camp (Gowanus) – These single-day circus camps are modeled after  their full-week camps and includes lots of fun circus and adventure play. Activities include aerial silks, trapeze, juggling, hula hooping, circus arts, free play, building & set painting, and more. Recommended for kids aged 5-12 years old. Dates: September 30th, October 1st, October 9th, October 14th, November 11th / Cost: $120 per day (sibling discount available)

Child’s Play NY (Carroll Gardens) – Half-day theater camps where kids (ages 2-6) are encouraged to use their imagination while having lots of fun. The teaching artists help kids act out stories, learn songs, work together on missions, and play games with fun themes like Superheroes on Stage, Moana + Myth, Unicorns + Dragons, Halloween Adventures, Animal Adventures, and Once Upon a Time. Dates: October 9, October 14, November 11 / Cost: $75 per day (sibling and multi-session discounts available)

Brooklyn Zoo NY (East Williamsburg) – Their full-day holiday camps give kids (ages 5-14) the chance to try out new physical activities like Parkour and Ninja Warrior training and games. They usually divide into groups based on age (5-8 and 9+) and based on skill/behavior. Dates: September 30th, October 1st, October 9th, October 14th, November 5th, November 11th, November 28th, November 29th / Cost: $100 per day (multiple day discount available)

Chelsea Piers (Manhattan) – One-day camps at The Field House include Gymnastics and Multi-Sports Camps for 5-12 year-olds, Basketball and Soccer Clinics for 6-12-year-olds, and Preschool half-day camps for 3-5-year-olds. Dates: September 30th and October 1st, October 9th, October 14th, November 5th  (Preschool and Gymnastics Only), November 11th (Preschool, Gymnastics and Ninja Only), November 29th (Multi-Sport Only) / Cost: $140 per day (full day) or $80/day (preschool)

Super Soccer Stars (Various Locations) – They offer half-day soccer camps for all ages when school is out of session at locations around Brooklyn and Manhattan. In Brooklyn, they have upcoming holiday camps on October 9th and October 14th (3-5 years old) at Upper 90, a Two-Day Holiday Camp on September 30th and October 1st at Cadman Plaza Park (ages 3-4 and 5-10), and an Election Day Camp at Cadman Plaza Park (ages 3-4 and 5-10). Dates: September 30th, October 1st, October 9th, October 14th, November 5th / Cost: $75 per day

The Painted Cloud (Williamsburg) – Their school break holiday camps include the “Studio Takeover” art workshop, where lower elementary kids (PreK-3rd grade) work on art projects planned by teaching artists and participate in drawing, choice time (games, puppets, reading), snack, lunch, and outdoor play. During “Art Trek,” older kids (3rd-6th grade) get to explore the city, discuss their observations, and create art inspired by their discoveries. Dates: September 30th, October 1st, October 9th, October 14th, November 5th, November 11th / Cost: $100 per day
