The 3D Periodic Table at the NY Hall of Science
Friday October 25th 10a-5p. Free with Museum admission. Join us in celebrating the International Year of the Periodic Table! View a large-scale 3D periodic table, built by the New York section of the American Chemical Society. The giant 3D Periodic Table is composed of 118 individual element panels designed by participants from more than 50 organizations and is approximately 12-feet by 10-feet by 10-feet in size. It pays tribute to the discovery of the periodicity of the chemical elements, and celebrates the legacy of science, innovation and human collective endeavors.

It is said the origins of Halloween, or Oíche Shamhna in Gaelic, can be traced back to ancient Ireland during the Celtic festival of Samhain. Free Fridays at Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum
Friday October 27th 5-9p. Free. Highlights: Explore the universe in the Museum’s pop-up planetarium, with Intrepid Educator-led shows that will take you around our galaxy and back again. Every 45 minutes. First-come, first-served. All ages. Celebrate Halloween with special activities including “SPOOKY” cupcake decorating workshops with the NY Cake Academy, a Slime Making workshop with the NYC Ghostbusters League, and don’t miss renowned pumpkin carver Marc Solomon as he carves a 200-pound pumpkin. He will also share tips and demonstrations on how to carve the perfect pumpkin. Space is limited. First come, first served. The evening will continue with a special Astronomy Night where guests can learn about the spookiest planets in the universe from American Museum of Natural History senior scientist Jackie Faherty. Following the talk, enjoy stargazing on the flight deck (weather permitting).

Great PUPkin Halloween Costume Contest in Fort Greene Park
Saturday October 26th 1130a-2p. Free to watch. The 21st annual Great PUPkin Halloween costume contest will take place on October 26. While 80 advance registrations slots have sold out in RECORD time, walk-up registration for a remaining 40 registrants will be available on the day of the event in Fort Greene Park will be available for a $5.00 donation, cash only, on a first-come, first-served basis, on the monument plaza. Day-of registration will start at 10:45am! Judging of all entrants begins at the bottom of the monument stairs at 11:30 a.m. sharp! Halloween Haunted Walk + Fair in Prospect Park
Saturday October 26th 12n-3p. Free. Prospect Park Alliance invites all local ghosts and ghouls to the 40th Annual Halloween Haunted Walk and Fair! This much-anticipated annual event brings thousands of kids and families for free, ghastly fun to Prospect Park. Encounter zombies, werewolves, witches and other Halloween spirits on a haunted walk through the woodland Lookout Hill, ideal for families with children ages 7-12. All ages can enjoy a festive Halloween Fair on the Nethermead, featuring family-friendly activities, as well as sweet and savory treats from some of the city’s top food trucks.
Hot Peas ‘n Butter Live! Music for Every Nation & Generation at the Central Brooklyn Public Library
Saturday October 26th 1-2p. Free. Location: Dweck Center. Led by Danny Lapidus, the award-winning family music band, Hot Peas ‘n Butter, wows thousands of young audiences across the nation every year with their interactive, roots music from around the world. Families will be given seating priority. Seating is limited; first come, first served.
Haunted Farmhouse at Queens County Farm Museum
Saturday October 26th 1-7p. Tickets: Advance Tickets: $4 all ages. Door Tickets: $7 all ages. Recommend for ages 6–12. Prepare for a scare inside our haunted farmhouse! This ghoulish adventure is the perfect way to twist and turn in to Halloween. This indoor event is rain or shine.
3rd Annual BKLYN BOO! at City Point (Downtown Brooklyn)
Saturday October 26th 2-5p. Free. Chills and thrills come to Downtown Brooklyn for families with kids from 1-10 at the 3rd annual indoor Bklyn Boo on Saturday 10/26 from 2 to 5 pm. Free activities include pumpkin carving, pumpkin patch, magic show, DJ, arts and crafts, face painting and family costume contest! A Child Grows will be making ghost lollipops with the kiddos!

Tricks and Treats Halloween Show at Jalopy Theatre (Red Hook)
Sunday October 27th 11a. Tickets: $5 kids, $10 adults, $25 family ticket. Join NYC family performer Suzi Shelton along with musicians Jeff Kerestes, Abigail Levin and Albert Iturregui-Elias as she returns to her favorite theatre in Brooklyn for a “not too spooky” family fun HALLOWEEN show. Prepare to be scared at New York City College of Technology’s (City Tech) annual high-tech haunted hotel, The Gravesend Inn. The Gravesend Inn is produced by Theatreworks, City Tech’s resident theatrical troupe, with design, construction and operating support provided by students and faculty of the College’s nationally unique Entertainment Technology Department, this theme-park-quality Halloween attraction has been thrilling children and adults alike since 2000. LC Kids: Nest at Clark Studio Theater (UWS)
Friday-Sunday October 23rd-27th 1030a & 1230p. Tickets: $25. Recommended for Ages: 0–14 months (for pre-walking babies). Unfolding in a custom-built performance tent, this multisensory experience takes audiences on a delightful journey through the seasons. Using playful poetry, music, movement, puppetry, and tactile play, Nest will awaken curiosity in babies and remind grownups of the wonder of being in the world for the first time.
Dead or Alive at NY Hall of Science
Saturday-Sunday October 26th-27th 1-5p. Free with Museum admission. Join us for a weekend of exploring the science of the creepy. Use household materials to make fake blood or prosthetic wounds, learn how geometry and perspective are used in set design, and explore video and lighting effects. Pumpkin Point on Governors Island
Saturdays-Sundays 10a-5p until October 27th also Thursday-Friday October 24th-25th 10a-5p. Pumpkins are available for purchase, and Governors Island members can receive a free pumpkin when they show their member card. Just in time for fall, Governors Island’s Nolan Park will transform with its third annual Pumpkin Point, a free, family-friendly patch of over 5,000 pumpkins on the last two weekends in October. Stroll through the pumpkin patch and enjoy free, Halloween-inspired arts and craft activities with Children’s Museum of the Arts including pumpkin painting and costume-making workshops, and enjoy festive fare from Governor’s Island vendors Little Eva’s and Threes Brewing.
Survival of the Slowest at Brooklyn Children’s Museum (Crown Heights)
Starting Saturday October 26th at 12n and ongoing until February 2nd 2020. Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 10a-5p, Thursday 10a-6p & Saturday-Sunday 10a-7p. Free with Museum admission. Meet Roger the sloth! He has two toes, lives in Central America, and is visiting Brooklyn with his friends. Learn about how slow animals survive and thrive in our fast-paced world at BCM’s newest exhibit. Survival of the Slowest features 19 distinct habitats with live animals, including Roger the two-toed sloth, a blood python, a roughneck monitor lizard, and many more. Each day this exhibit will offer up-close experiences with slow and small species that survive and thrive in a world where large, strong, and fast animals are often at the top of the food chain. Survival of the Slowest prompts families to appreciate the different evolutionary paths of these incredible creatures, and showcases the value of deliberation in our fast-paced city. While exploring Survival of the Slowest, young visitors will explore concepts of biology and evolutionary science. Live animal presentations are offered throughout the day to educate, entertain, and most importantly, connect visitors with wildlife and nature.
Night of 1,000 Jack O’Lanterns on Governors Island
Thursdays-Sundays 6-1040p until October 27th. Tickets: $26/adult, $22/child (3-17y), free for children under 2. The RISE of the Jack O’Lanterns invites you to Night of 1,000 Jack O’Lanterns, a truly unique jack o’lantern jaunt on Governors Island! Upon arrival on the island, it’s a short walk to the jack o’lantern trail. Along the way, you’ll take in breathtaking nighttime views of the Manhattan skyline and then pass by the spooky Castle Williams, a former military fort and prison built in the early 1800’s. Once on trail, you’ll see LED-lit jack o’lanterns staged along a festive, paved, illuminated tree-lined pathway among the backdrop of centuries old buildings. The Art of the Brick at New York Hall of Science
Daily through January 26th. General hours ~ Monday–Friday: 930a-5p and Saturday–Sunday: 10a-6p. Entry to the exhibition costs $7 per person, plus NYSCI admission. Experience The Art of the Brick, the world’s largest display of LEGO® art! Artist Nathan Sawaya created more than 100 pieces for this exhibition using only LEGO bricks. The collection features original pieces, as well as re-imagined versions of some of the world’s most famous art masterpieces. Dinosaur Safari at the Bronx Zoo
