Monday October 28th

Playspace at BAX Brooklyn Arts Exchange (Park Slope)
Starting Monday October 28th and will be Mondays 930-1130a & Fridays 930-1130a until May 22, 2020. Price: $10 drop-in. For ages 1-4. Explore tunnels, create funky rhythms, and dance with colorful scarves and sort soft vegetables. Children can bring special toys, books, or other childhood comfort items, but must bring their own diapers, wipes, snacks and drinks. Parents must remain on site. Playspace is a PEANUT FREE ENVIRONMENT. This is a wonderful activity to incorporate into your weekly routine and provides an opportunity to meet new friends, socialize and engage in a bright and open space.

Archaeology Monday at The Jewish Museum (UES)
Monday October 28th 3-5p. RSVP recommended. Included with Museum Admission; admission is free for children 18 and under. Join us for an afternoon archaeological adventure. Unique in New York City, our simulated archaeological dig highlights replicas from ancient to modern times in a hands-on experience. Collect stamps in a special passport each visit and receive a gift after your third dig adventure!

Gravesend Inn Haunted Hotel at Voorhees Theatre (Downtown Brooklyn)
Monday-Thursday October 28th-31st 5-9p and also Wednesday-Thursday 10a-3p. Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 for students with ID and group sales. Tickets are free to all Citytech students/faculty/staff with Citytech ID the day of performance. Not advisable for pre-school age children. New scares will surround you as you walk the halls of the Gravesend Inn. Prepare to be scared at New York City College of Technology’s (City Tech) annual high-tech haunted hotel, The Gravesend Inn. The Gravesend Inn is produced by Theatreworks, City Tech’s resident theatrical troupe, with design, construction and operating support provided by students and faculty of the College’s nationally unique Entertainment Technology Department, this theme-park-quality Halloween attraction has been thrilling children and adults alike since 2000. Tuesday October 29th

Creepy Slime Workshop at Ottenforfer NY Public Library (East Village)
Tuesday October 29th 330p. Free. What’s green,slimy and filled with bugs and eyeballs? Why it’s our Creepy Slime Workshop. All materials will be provided. Dress for Mess! Ages 5 and Older.

Spanish for Babies & Toddlers at Book Culture (Long Island City)
Tuesdays 4-445p until October 29th. $15/drop-in. Toc Toc Spanish is a fun mix of story time, sing-along, dancing, games and puppet show. It’s the perfect opportunity to expose your little one to a second language right when the “language learning window” opens. Don’t worry if you are not a Spanish speaker, parents and caregivers can even learn Spanish with their child! Ages 6 mo – 3 yrs (adult participation required)

Halloween Costume Party at Park Slope Brooklyn Public Library
Tuesday October 29th 5-6p. Free. Come and get into the spooky spirit with us at the Park Slope Library! We’ll be doing some spooky crafts and having a costume showcase! All showcase participants will get a small spooky prize!

Wednesday October 30th

Toddler Halloween Parade in Gertrude Ederle Recreation Center (UWS)
Wednesday October 30th 11a-1p. Free. A fun-filled parade where toddlers and parents will have the chance to flaunt their Halloween costumes amongst their peers and to the neighborhood. Take pictures in the pumpkin patch, dance with us and participate in fun Halloween-themed games.

Monster Mash Bash! at Crown Heights Brooklyn Public Library
Wednesday October 30th 330-5p. Free. Spooooky Activities for Kids and Teens! We might have a mummy wrap! We might make spider rings! We might have a costume contest! There will definitely be give-aways and free stuff. Come and find out!

Halloween Pumpkin Flotilla 2019 in Central Park
Wednesday October 30th 4-7p. This event is FREE and open to all ages. Tickets are not required. Location: Charles A. Dana Discovery Center (inside the Park at 110th Street between Fifth and Lenox Avenues). Bring the whole family and celebrate Halloween in Central Park! Enjoy pumpkin carving, Halloween crafts, spooky stories, a costume parade, a festive pumpkin patch, and the Conservancy’s signature Pumpkin Flotilla, which sets sail across the Harlem Meer at twilight. Thursday October 31st

2019 Bay Ridge Halloween Festival in Owl’s Head Park
Thursday October 31st 4-8p. Free. Join us for our annual Halloween Festival at Owl’s Head Park! Costume contests, candy, popcorn, music, bouncy rides for kids, pumpkin painting & more!!!

BAMBoo! (Fort Greene)
Thursday October 31st 4-6p. Free. LOCATION CHANGE: 30 Lafayette Ave between Ashland Pl and St. Felix St. This year we are taking the fun indoors as BAM once again presents its popular annual Halloween event BAMboo!. The event will take place in the lobby and Lepercq Space inside BAM Peter Jay Sharp Building (30 Lafayette Ave, Brooklyn) from 4–6pm on Thu, Oct 31. For kids and the young-at-heart, BAMboo! features awe-inspiring stilt-walkers, live music, arts & crafts, carnival games, and its popular costume contest. And of course, a candy giveaway. The event is free and all are welcome!

DUMBOWeen at Archway under Manhattan Bridge
Thursday October 31st 430p. Free. Annual March to the Arch. This year is going to be scarily good, with our annual March to the Arch followed by crafts, costume contests, live music and candy in the Archway! Jim Munson of Brooklyn Roasting Company regales us with the story of the Jack-O-Lantern. Then, costumed characters leave Brooklyn Roasting Co and parade through DUMBO’s streets en route to the Archway under the Manhattan Bridge, led by the Funkrust Brass Band. 5 – 7 pm: Archway Kids Party. Location: Archway Under the Manhattan Bridge. All free and open to the public. Brass performance the Funkrust Brass Band. Hands-on arts & crafts with Creatively WILD Art Studio. A Photobooth, prizes for the best costumes, and, of course, lots and lots of candy! PLUS! Trick-or-Treating from 4-8pm neighborhood-wide. It’s a DUMBO BID tradition! Grab your pumpkin bucket: the DUMBO BID sponsors storefront trick-or-treating for the little ones from 4-8pm. 40+ businesses will be giving out candy to costumed DUMBOnians. Ongoing Events

Kids’ Discovery Stations at Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Tuesdays-Fridays 1015a-1215p until November 1st. Free with Garden admission. This is a drop-in program for schools and families with children of all ages. Explore plants and use real science tools alongside Discovery Docents at our hands-on activity stations throughout the Discovery Garden. All programs are outdoors and canceled in inclement weather.

Survival of the Slowest at Brooklyn Children’s Museum (Crown Heights)
Ongoing until February 2nd 2020. Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 10a-5p, Thursday 10a-6p & Saturday-Sunday 10a-7p. Free with Museum admission. Meet Roger the sloth! He has two toes, lives in Central America, and is visiting Brooklyn with his friends. Learn about how slow animals survive and thrive in our fast-paced world at BCM’s newest exhibit. Survival of the Slowest features 19 distinct habitats with live animals, including Roger the two-toed sloth, a blood python, a roughneck monitor lizard, and many more. Each day this exhibit will offer up-close experiences with slow and small species that survive and thrive in a world where large, strong, and fast animals are often at the top of the food chain. Survival of the Slowest prompts families to appreciate the different evolutionary paths of these incredible creatures, and showcases the value of deliberation in our fast-paced city. While exploring Survival of the Slowest, young visitors will explore concepts of biology and evolutionary science. Live animal presentations are offered throughout the day to educate, entertain, and most importantly, connect visitors with wildlife and nature.

The Art of the Brick at New York Hall of Science
Daily through January 26th. General hours ~ Monday–Friday: 930a-5p and Saturday–Sunday: 10a-6p. Entry to the exhibition costs $7 per person, plus NYSCI admission. Experience The Art of the Brick, the world’s largest display of LEGO® art! Artist Nathan Sawaya created more than 100 pieces for this exhibition using only LEGO bricks. The collection features original pieces, as well as re-imagined versions of some of the world’s most famous art masterpieces. More than one million LEGO bricks were used to create Sawaya’s sculptures. See the website for all the event details.

Spooky Pumpkin Garden at New York Botanical Garden
Daily Tuesday-Sunday 10a-6p until Thursday October 31st. Free with Garden admission. Explore hordes of gourds & scarecrows during this season of frightful fun! NYBG gets a Halloween makeover with a sea of gourds of all shapes and sizes, a host of silly scarecrows, and frightfully fun activities. Experience the thrills and chills of the season with visits from creepy creatures of the night, after-dark adventures, and the arrival of monstrous pumpkins.

Playdate & Mingle Time at Edamama Cute Cuts & More (Williamsburg)
Daily 130-3p. Cash only: $15 per munchkin. Sibling is $25 (two children). Adults are free! Spots are available on a first come, first serve basis. Invite your friends. While munchkins are rolling around and socializing you can take a breather with your friends! Our space is the most children and family friendly hang out space in the hood. Play dates are an informal and unstructured social events for munchkins 0 to 3 yrs old and their tribe.

King of the Jungle at Brooklyn Zoo (Williamsburg)
Mondays-Fridays 4-5p. $25/drop-in. Class packs also available. For ages 5-10y. King of the Jungle is a good intro class to our space. It combines two or more skills that we teach in our space and put it into one classes. The skills that are taught during our King of the Jungle classes are Parkour, Ninja Warrior, Trampoline, and Tumbling. (Class may vary depending on instructor)

T. rex: The Ultimate Predator at American Museum of Natural History (UWS)
Daily 10a-545p until August 9th 2020. Timed entry only. Gallery 3, third floor. General Admission + One tickets: Adult $28 / Child (2-12) $16.50 / Senior & Student $22.50. Free for members. How did T. rex evolve to become the most fearsome carnivore of the Mesozoic? T. rex: The Ultimate Predator will introduce you to the entire tyrannosaur superfamily and reveal the amazing story of the most iconic dinosaur in the world through stunning life-sized models, fossils and casts, engaging interactives, and an immersive multiplayer virtual reality experience developed exclusively for this exhibition. Warning: you may never think of T. rex the same way again.

Preschool Play in Wagner Park (Battery Park City)
Mondays-Wednesdays 10-1130a until October 30th. Free. Play is the cornerstone of early childhood development. Meet other toddlers, parents, and caregivers for interactive play on a grassy lawn. Sing, dance, shake, and hear stories too! Carefully selected play equipment and toys are provided – plus water play! No Programs on 10/14.

Dinosaur Safari at the Bronx Zoo
Daily until November 3rd. Zoo hours are: Monday-Friday 10a-5p & weekends & holidays 10a-530p. Included in the Total Experience ticket. See website for all the details. Plan your visit to the biggest, most realistic Dinosaur Safari ride in America. Travel back in time on our guided tour to learn about dinos of the past and animals of the present. We’ll help you spot the connections between animals at the zoo and ancient dinosaurs. Spend some time at the dig site uncovering fossils, meeting a walking, roaring dino, and taking photos. The perfect prehistoric day.

Drop-in Storytimes at Stories Bookshop + Storytelling Lab (Park Slope)

Weekday Storytimes with our staff are $10 per family, with further discounted Read-y passes available for sale in our bookshop. See website for information.

Under 5s Drop In Class at the Children’s Museum of the Arts (SoHo)
Monday-Friday 1045a-12n. $30 per family (total of 5), CMA members $15 per family. Music time! Story time! Art time! Join CMA’s stART teaching artists for an art-filled drop-in session when the museum is closed for general hours. Parent and/or caregivers are required to join and we encourage family collaboration throughout the class. No sign up required. Want to stay longer? General admission is just $6 per family after drop-in.

Ed Center in Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 1
Tuesdays & Thursdays 3-5p and also Saturdays and Sundays from 1–5p. Free. The Ed Center is open for free, drop-in hours three afternoons a week! Get to know Brooklyn Bridge Park with our 250 gallon aquarium filled with critters from the East River, a 10’ scale model of Brooklyn Bridge Park, crafts, a reading corner, and much more!
