Friday February 28th

Tots Yoga I: Walkers-2yrs at Monkey Do! Yoga (Gowanus)
Fridays 10-1045a. Drop in $25 (per caregiver/child pair). Additional Family Member $10. Let your little ones begin their journey on the mat with fun and activities. Explore songs, rhymes, movement, puppets, and an experience with yoga and breath. Early exposure to yoga, movement and music has a long list of benefits including early communication skills, bonding, motor skills, self-expression, memory skills and so much more! Library Playdate at Brighton Beach Brooklyn Public Library
Friday February 28th 1030-1130a. Free. Stop by the Brighton Beach Library Playdate to enjoy fun games and activities that delight young children and encourage early literacy. Come to play and leave ready to turn ordinary objects in your home into your child’s favorite toys. For babies and toddlers birth to 3 years and their parents and caregivers.

Bilingual Birdies Mandarin Series at Seward Park NY Public Library (Lower East Side)
Friday February 28th 1115a. Free. For ages 0-5 years old with their parent/caregiver. No registration required. Bilingual Birdies will take families on a magical journey to learn words in Mandarin and explore fun new themes! All teachers are native Mandarin speakers who play guitar or keyboard to create a welcoming and engaging educational experience for young children. Families get to bond through an intergenerational bubble dance party extravaganza at the end of each class. And it is so much more than just a language program! Bilingual Birdies celebrates Chinese culture in a time that is very important to embrace diversity. Our goal is to encourage cross-cultural awareness.

Drumfolk at The New Victory Theater
Fridays 7p, Saturdays 2p & 7p and Sundays 12n & 5p until March 15th. Tickets start at $17. For everyone 7 and up. Runnint time: 1 hour and 35 minutes including one intermission. Powerful. Precise. Persistent. Political. The drum is talking. The music is calling. When Africans lost the right to use their drums, the beats found their way into the body of the people—the DRUMFOLK. New percussive art forms took root and made way for tap, beatboxing and the African American tradition of stepping. From hambone to hip-hop, an extraordinary ensemble of dancers, drummers and musicians takes us from West Africa to Washington, D.C., to reveal the hidden histories and resounding rhythms that transformed America.

Saturday February 29th

Saturday Morning Show at Brookfield Place (Battery Park City)
Saturdays 10a-12n until April 25th. Free to attend. Location: Hudson Eats. Bring the family down for weekly performances by magicians, musicians, storytellers, and more! Saturday February 29th : 10am | Vered: Vered’s voice is lush, her songs funny and poignant, and her upbeat melodies and playful harmonies are reminiscent of a doo-wop band. 11am | Sammie and Tudie: Sammie & Tudie’s show is a thrill ride of fun! Magic and zany, side-splitting comedy for the whole family to enjoy.

Just Kidding: Lucy Kalantari and the Jazz Cats at Symphony Space (UWS)
Saturday February 29nd 11a. Ticket: $14 member, $17 non-members. Expected run time is 60 minutes. Lucy Kalantari is a songwriter, composer and producer based in Brooklyn, making jazz age inspired music for families. Her band and music have been featured on Snug’s House (formerly Sprout House), the musically-infused programming block on Universal Kids. Her songs are on steady rotation on SiriusXM Kids Place Live and other family radio programs around the country. Kalantari’s latest album, All the Sounds was the winner of the Best Children’s Album in the 61st GRAMMY® Awards.

Storytime and Activities Celebrating Dr. Seuss! at Barnes & Noble (Park Slope)
Saturday February 29th 11a. Free. Join us for a very Seussical Storytime with fun activities! This event will also happen at the Barnes & Noble on Court Street in Downtown Brooklyn. See website for details.

Kotchegna: Dance Traditions from Ivory Coast at Central Brooklyn Public Library
Saturday February 29th 1-2p. Free. Location: Dweck Center. Performing in elaborate masks to the explosive percussion of a corps of brilliant drummers, Kotchegna Dance Company’s irresistible excitement and pulsating rhythms are an experience to behold. Join master dancer and percussionist Vado Diomande with Kotchegna as they bring to life the ancient stories and legends of Africa’s Ivory Coast through music and dance.

Family Concert: Meet The Percussion at Brooklyn Conservatory of Music (Park Slope)
Saturday February 29th 2p & 330p. Tickets: $20/adult, $10/child BKCMS students & family ticket: $15/adult, $5 child. Presented by our BKCM Faculty Percussion Ensemble featuring Amos Gabia and Sameer Gupta with special guest Nikara Warren, this exciting concert will explore a range of sounds and styles, with plenty of interactive moving and grooving for the audience! Meet the percussion up close after the concert at an instrument petting zoo. These concerts are for music-lovers of all ages, but especially designed for kids 3-8.

Sunday March 1st

Little Laffs at the Jalopy Theatre (Carroll Gardens/Red Hook)
Sunday March 1st 11a. Tickets: $5 Kids, $10 Adults (includes a Bloody Mary or Mimosa), $25 Family. Little Laffs, “Big Fun for Little Ones” is a monthly variety show for kids ages 3-9, that mixes juggling, balloon art, music, comedy, and more. Join us at the Fabulous Jalopy Theatre in Carroll Gardens/Red Hook, Brooklyn for an afternoon full of Little Laffs! Host: Twistin’ Todd, Music: The Trummytones and Magic/Variety: Ian Stewart

Family Concert: The Pop Upst at The Jewish Museum (UES)
Sunday March 1st 1130a. $18 General; $14 Jewish Museum Family Members. Includes Museum Admission; admission is free for children 18 and under. For ages 3 & up. Catch the high energy of the Grammy-nominated band The Pop Ups as they light up the stage in a special acoustic concert with their musician friends. Experience live drawing with sound, hilarious puppets, and an epic costume party just in time for Purim! Hear favorites from their hit albums Giants of Science, Radio Jungle, and more.

Family Sundays: Holi Rangoli at Rubin Museum (Chelsea)
Sundays in March. Drop-in anytime between 1pm and 4pm. Free for children and accompanying adults. Sundays are for families! Bring your family to the Museum for a Sunday afternoon full of family-friendly activities. Drop into the Education Center for some art-making, enjoy our 2 p.m. family exhibition tour, or go on your own thematic gallery search. March Family Sundays: Holi Rangoli ~ Celebrate Holi, the festival of colors and love, signifying the victory of good over evil and the arrival of spring. Take inspiration from the traditional art form of rangoli—geometric or nature-inspired patterns that are often made during Holi celebrations in India—and create your own floral designs using bright and vibrant hues!

BAMkids Movie Matinees: Spirited Away (Fort Greene)
Sunday March 1st 2p. Tickets: $10 general admission, children 12 and under $7. For ages 9+. Run Time: 125 min. After her parents are turned into pigs, a young girl embarks on a surreal journey through a spirit-filled otherworld. She encounters a host of unforgettable characters, including a cantankerous bathhouse owner, her enormous baby, and the haunting specter of “No Face.” This Academy Award-winning film is perhaps the most breathtaking expression of Hayao Miyazaki’s rich imagination and lush animation, full of wild color and fantastical imagery. Ready, Set, Kindergarten! at Central Brooklyn Public Library
Sundays 230-330p until April 5th. Free. In this special six session series, families enjoy stories & activities designed to encourage the development of early learning practices. Exploring literacy, science, & math through music, stories, art, & play will help you & your child get ready for school! Families will receive free materials to continue the learning and fun at home. Alice in Wonderland at Puppetworks (Park Slope)
Saturdays-Sundays 1230p & 230p until April 5th. For 3y+. Admission for a Child is $10, an Adult $11. No credit cards accepted. Survival: The Exhibition at NY Hall of Science
Daily until September 13th. Hours: Monday – Friday, 930a-5p, Saturday & Sunday, 10a-6p. $7 per person, plus NYSCI admission. Free for Members. Become the ultimate survival expert. Test your survival skills. Learn how to build shelter in the forest, find water in the desert, stay warm in the extreme cold. Plus, learn water safety and emergency preparations. Survival culminates in the Adventure Zone Ropes Course and Zip Line, where visitors’ confidence and problem-solving skills are put to the test. Course obstacles and activities teach balance, focus, coordination and concentration while building resilience and determination in the face of adversity. See the website for all the details. Ed Center in Brooklyn Bridge Park
Tuesdays & Thursdays 3-5p and also Saturdays and Sundays from 1–5p. Location: Pier 1. Free. The Ed Center is open for free, drop-in hours three afternoons a week! Get to know Brooklyn Bridge Park with our 250 gallon aquarium filled with critters from the East River, a 10’ scale model of Brooklyn Bridge Park, crafts, a reading corner, and much more!

The Industry City Ice Rink (Sunset Park)
Wednesdays-Thursdays 4-8p, Fridays 11a-8p, Saturdays 10a-8p and Sundays 10a-5p. Tickets will be $10 for adults and $6 for kids 12 and under, with skate rentals costing $9. Tickets can be purchased on site at IC Ice Rink in courtyard 5/6. The Industry City Ice Rink opens November 30 and welcomes guests to join for an iconic winter experience every Wednesday to Sunday with ice skating theme parties on Fridays + Saturdays. The rink is outside and uncovered, so dress appropriately for an enjoyable and comfortable skate. If you come at a popular time and there’s a line, there are plenty of other activities to fill your time while you wait. Pop into our game room, browse + shop The Makers Guild, hang by the fire pit or grab a drink inside any of our brewers and distillers. See website for all the details.

T. rex: The Ultimate Predator at American Museum of Natural History (UWS)
Daily 10a-545p until August 9th 2020. Timed entry only. Gallery 3, third floor. General Admission + One tickets: Adult $28 / Child (2-12) $16.50 / Senior & Student $22.50. Free for members. How did T. rex evolve to become the most fearsome carnivore of the Mesozoic? T. rex: The Ultimate Predator will introduce you to the entire tyrannosaur superfamily and reveal the amazing story of the most iconic dinosaur in the world through stunning life-sized models, fossils and casts, engaging interactives, and an immersive multiplayer virtual reality experience developed exclusively for this exhibition. Warning: you may never think of T. rex the same way again.
