Monday August 24th

Summer Reading: Lunar Landers
Monday August 24th 2-3p. Free. What might be difficult about landing on the moon? Explore Intrepid’s connection to the Space Race and analyze the result of the engineering design process that made landing on the moon possible. Activity Materials: Disposable cup, recyclable materials, tape, scissors, two coins or other small objects. Register for the Zoom broadcast via the RSVP button here.

Hudson River Park’s Hudson RiverKids
Mondays 4p until August 31st. Free. Hudson RiverKids brings together learning activities and family friendly entertainment all summer long! This year Hudson River Park is bringing our programming to you, wherever that is this summer season. The Park community might be apart, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t join in the fun! With a multitude of programs and performances all made with kids especially in mind, virtual Hudson RiverKids is fun for the whole family. Come join us – we take play seriously! Check out our line-up below to discover something for all kids; recommended for children ages up to 8 years old. Tune in to Facebook Live for Monday performances that are a mix of magic, music, storytelling and much more. Tuesday August 25th

Stomp, Clap, and Sing with RockNLolo
Tuesday August 25th 11a-12n. Free. Rock “N” Lolo continue sharing love and bringing joy to each little one’s home. Thirtyminutes long full of singing and dancing, while learning Spanish through Original Music, and most importantly, having fun! Created to inspire Babies and toddlers up to 5 years old, Rock N Lolo’s music program brings new and smart content with original beautiful songs that will give your child the most powerful tool for their future, educating them not only in a new language, but also with values and good manners. Urban Park Ranger Nature and Wildlife Activities in Saratoga Park
Tuesday August 25th 11a-12n. Free. Look out for our Urban Park Rangers who will be in the park providing nature and wildlife-related activities and engagement. Activities may include nature art, scavenger hunts, physical challenges, and more.

Wednesday August 26th

GO WITH YOYO! Fitness fun and Yoga PLAY PARTY!
Wednesday August 26th 1030a. Free. Go with YOYO is super fun, interactive screen time with a focus on playful fitness and yoga just for kids! By blending educational elements such as letters, numbers, and animals, with brain boosting movements, and our attitude of gratitude, kids are making both their muscles and their mind strong! Shell-ebrate Oysters with Hudson River Park
Wednesday August 26th 2-3p. Free. Sign up here. Tune in live with HRPK’s River Project to enjoy virtual programs and connect with the Park’s Estuarine Sanctuary. Science programming for everyone! HRPK’s Estuarine Sanctuary is full of fascinating wildlife, including the native Eastern oyster. Join us for virtual oyster monitoring sessions to learn about the history and important environmental role of this keystone species.

Thursday August 27th

Mad Science: Spin, Pop…Boom!
Thursday August 27th 11a. Free. Are you ready for some fun science? Our Special Event, “Spin, Pop, Boom” is all about awesome experiments! You will witness amazing feats of chemistry as we explore all sorts of spectacular reactions. You will marvel at our demonstrations as we release genies from bottles and spew massive columns of foam with the use of our catalysts! So, get ready to be amazed while you learn, because at Mad Science, all education is entertaining! This program will be held virtually here.

Battle of Brooklyn Tour: Virtual
Thursday August 27th 1230-130p. $5 virtual pass per household. Purchase pass here. To celebrate Brooklyn’s Battle Day, Turnstile Tours is taking a virtual walk through Prospect Park to follow the battle lines of the largest battle of the Revolutionary War. See where American forces tried unsuccessfully to stop the British advance at Battle Pass, follow the path some used to escape to join the main battle in Gowanus, and visit the many Revolutionary War monuments in the park, including Daniel Chester French’s sculpture to the Marquis de Lafayette and Stanford White’s memorial to the 1st Maryland Regiment.

Friday August 28th

Summer Reading: Misterios de la máscara: Lucha Libre Mask Making
Friday August 28th 2-3p. Free. Have you ever wondered what it was like to be a luchador? Join us for a brand new maskmaking workshop where we jump into the world of Lucha Libre. Come learn about the history of Mexican wrestling through storytelling while creating our own unique máscaras (masks). Vámos! View the broadcast on Facebook Live at 2p.

Journey to the Stars in Brooklyn Bridge Park
Friday August 28th 830-1030p. Free. This event is first come, first served. Gaze across the New York sky and all the wonders it holds. On select Friday nights in August and September, members of the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York will set up hi-powered telescopes for stargazing sessions that are free and open to the public. Weather permitting. Note: There will be a socially-distanced queue to use the telescopes. We recommend arriving as early as possible. Participants must wear a face covering at all times. Brooklyn Public Library Vitural Storytimes
Daily usually at 11a & 2p. Free. Sometimes the storytimes are on the Brooklyn Public Library Family facebook page and other times they are on a specific branch facebook page. See the website for all the details.

Biking, Boating + Splash Pad in Prospect Park
Open daily. Hours: Boating + Biking: daily, 10a- 8p & Splash Pad (water play): daily, 10a-dusk. Splash pad is free see website for biking & boating rates. COVID-19 Update: Please note that starting Saturday, August 1, the LeFrak Center at Lakeside will be open daily for biking, boating and water play, with food and drink available for takeaway from the Bluestone Cafe; roller skating is not offered at this time. Please note that our water play feature, Splash Pad, is not regularly sanitized, and patrons are requested to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines posted on site, including adhering to mask wearing and social distancing protocols.

Creatively Wild Art Studio: Creative Playtime for Toddlers with DM & BLU
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 9-945a until August 31st. $20/class (class packages also available). Suitable for Toddlers ages 22 months- 3.5 yrs. Our fun, engaging summer online playtime class for Toddlers is hosted by our very own DM (our creative director /owner) and will include an awesome art project, a story & a sing-song! Brought to you in the comfort of your own home during these challenging times. This is a 45 minute immersive adventure & the perfect way to keep your tiny one engaged & inspired. Art nurtures each child’s development and helps them make creative choices, gain confidence, develop fine motor skills. Free Bike Mornings on Governors Island
Mondays-Fridays 10a-12n. Free. Blazing Saddles offers bikes, surreys, pedal cars, scooters and more for rental. Free Bike Mornings allow visitors to borrow a bike from Blazing Saddles for free for up to one hour every weekday between 10 AM and noon. Come visit Blazing Saddles at the north end of Colonels Row and bike the Island! This year you need a reservation for the ferry. See the website for all the details.

The Hopalong Andrew Show

Children’s Museum of Manhattan at Home
Activities in a daily email newsletter. Free. While the Museum is closed, our CMOM educators are still working to fill your child’s day with engaging interactive activity. CMOM can still be a part of your day through videos, sing-a-longs, games and so much more for you to do together with your family at home! Sign up for emails here (go all the way down the page on the right hand side for email sign up). From slime-making, dance parties and being transported to Japan with a recipe for sushi, to making animal puppets from recycled materials around the house, creating a bedtime routine and storytimes, “CMOM at Home” is sure to delight.
