Monday August 31st
Kula Yoga Kids: FREE Online “From Head to Toe”
Mondays 10-1030a until December 28th. Appropriate for ages 2-5. Kids Yoga classes are fun classes that seem more like playtime to the kids than yoga. Our instructors take the kids through a series of yoga poses all the while teaching them to connect with their inner divine nature. This is done through yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation and mindfulness practices. This is a FREE activity, and donations are graciously accepted. If you cannot donate, please watch the videos anyways. They are here to help us all. If you would like to give us something, please give us an honest online review. Summer Reading Closing Celebration: 123 Andrés
Monday August 31st 11a-12n. Free. Andrés Salguero, better known as 123 Andrés, is one of the most exciting new voices on the family music scene in the US and Latin America, “A rockstar for little language learners” according to Billboard Magazine. A native of Bogotá, Colombia, Andrés brings to audiences joyful sounds, passion for bilingualism and a high-energy love of music that gets kids dancing and singing in Spanish and English. Urban Park Ranger Nature and Wildlife Activities in Maria Hernandez Park
Tuesday September 1st 2-3p. Free. Location: Starr Street Entrance. Look out for our Urban Park Rangers who will be in the park providing nature and wildlife-related activities and engagement. Activities may include nature art, scavenger hunts, physical challenges, and more. Note: Maintain six feet of physical distance between households, wear a face covering and additionally, we encourage participants to bring their own hand sanitizer to our programs. Wednesday September 2nd
little Lola & tots: Online Breakdancing Class
Wednesdays 330-415p until September 9th. $15/class. Dynamic Kids Brooklyn is partnering with little Lola & tots to provide a unique afterschool program. This class will help guide your child through basic movements and break out of their shell. With fun music and small challenges, children are motivated to explore their strengths and weaknesses. They will learn to create their own movements and tell their own story through the art of “Breaking”. Once you sign up here, you will receive a zoom link before the start of class.
Sing with Suzi Online Show
Starting Wednesday September 2nd 4-430p & Mondays & Wednesdays until December 9th. Watch on her Facebook Page. CMA Teaching Artist Mackie Saylor leads her popular Creative Movement class as part of September Free Fridays, which provide free access to our most popular CMA Live! classes while amplifying important community topics. Movement with Mackie: Food and Community: Get moving and use your imagination by playing movement games related to foods that bring our homes, cultures, and communities together. Want to get more involved? Kids — help your grown-up pick out a few items for members of your community from the grocery store. Adults— if you’re able, donate to your local food pantry or sign up to volunteer. Biking, Boating + Splash Pad in Prospect Park
Open daily. Hours: Boating + Biking: daily, 10a- 8p & Splash Pad (water play): daily, 10a-dusk. Splash pad is free see website for biking & boating rates. COVID-19 Update: Please note that starting Saturday, August 1, the LeFrak Center at Lakeside will be open daily for biking, boating and water play, with food and drink available for takeaway from the Bluestone Cafe. Please note that our water play feature, Splash Pad, is not regularly sanitized, and patrons are requested to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines posted on site, including adhering to mask wearing and social distancing protocols.
Rollerskating at Lakeside in Prospect Park
Daily 12n-6p until mid October. Pricing: $6 admission & $7 skate rentals on weekdays and $10 admission, $7 skate rentals on weekends (weekend pricing begins 4p Fridays). Roller Skating is BACK! COVID-19 safety guidelines will be followed, including mask-wearing and social distancing protocols. Skating will operate at reduced capacity. Come get moving with us at Lakeside! Lakeside’s outdoor roller skating rink provides fun for kids, tweens, and adults alike. Skate to a mix of pop hits while taking in views of Prospect Park Lake. Free Bike Mornings on Governors Island
Mondays-Fridays 10a-12n. Free. Blazing Saddles offers bikes, surreys, pedal cars, scooters and more for rental. Free Bike Mornings allow visitors to borrow a bike from Blazing Saddles for free for up to one hour every weekday between 10 AM and noon. Activities in a daily email newsletter. Free. While the Museum is closed, our CMOM educators are still working to fill your child’s day with engaging interactive activity. CMOM can still be a part of your day through videos, sing-a-longs, games and so much more for you to do together with your family at home!
