The RedDrop Period Kit

A few brave entrepreneurs have released a new product, a kit for girls who are experiencing their first period to make the process easier for parents. The product is called the RedDrop Period Kit, and it is designed to be given to school age girls help them navigate their first period. The kits are $29.99.

RedDrop Period Kit

The RedDrop Period Kit includes:

  • A reusable cloth bag filled with a variety of pads and personal hygiene wipes

  • Educational materials to help her understand what to expect within the first year of getting her period

  • QR code that links to online videos tailored for her and her parents or caregivers

  • Stickers and some kind of special gift like a bracelet

I still don’t know how to use QR codes, but I’m sure they have links in another format. As far as I can tell, the kits do not include tampons or information on how to use them.

RedDrop Period Kit Founders

The idea started in 2019 with Atlanta-based co-founders Dana Roberts, Monica Williams, and Mike Davis. (I love the outfits in this picture.)

I think it is good idea for some people, especially if there are no other women in the household. When I was in junior high I’m pretty sure we all just brought one pad that was easy to slip in your back pocket to head to the bathroom.

While it might be more than most people need, there is a place for this and you have to respect the vision and bravery of launching this business. Learn more here.
