Scattered Solutions: Musical Mornings with Coach Claire
Mondays-Thursdays 9-930a, Fridays-Saturdays 930-10a & Sundays 530-6p until December 19th. $10 drop in class. Register here. For ages 1-5y. Join Ms. Claire and her puppet pals as they take your child on an adventure! Using fun and colorful virtual background pictures, Claire will invite you into an original story while encouraging participation with movements, music, and verbal interactions. To entertain and bring joy to the young children, while encouraging the use of their imagination as they learn from different themes (numbers, colors, animals, shapes…) and the many ways music can be appreciated.
“MOCACreate @Home: Woven Together” with Museum of Chinese in America
Monday November 2nd 6-630p. Free. RSVP here. This program is intended for families and children 9-12 years old. Garment workers have always been a large part of Chinatown’s identity and community. Learn about their experiences as you create an individual paper weaving that reflects on your contributions to the rich fabric of MOCA and the Chinatown community. What will your tapestry represent? For this program you will need: Paper- three sheets minimum, Pencil & Coloring materials.

Stomp, Clap, and Sing with Lavender Blues
Tuesday November 3rd 11a-12n. Free. Join Lady B host of Lavender Blues music for Babies & Toddlers as she performs songs from her studio album, the REMIXES! A 40 minute Hip Hop concert for young families, traditional nursery rhymes remixed with a hip-hop beat with a few originals mixed in. ‘the REMIXES?” Check em out & join us!! This pre-recorded program will air on the BPL Facebook page and YouTube Channel and remain there for 48 hours, then will be taken down.
Moon Myths: Magical and Mysterious!
Tuesday November 3rd 330p. Free. Do you know why the moon lives up in the sky? Why it waxes and wanes? What is the real story behind the man in the moon? Or is it a woman? Have you ever wanted to touch the moon? Using music, poetry and interactive group storytelling techniques, Miss Navida tells Moon Myths from China, Nigeria and the Caribbean with lots of audience participation. Presented by Miss Navida. Beautiful Us with the Brooklyn Children’s Museum
Wednesday November 4th 10-1030a. Free. RSVP here. This online program is a cultural collections investigation and art-making workshop in which we’ll explore the unique and universal reasons we adorn ourselves. We’ll share ancient and contemporary adornments from BCM’s collection, and model the making of adornments that families can create at home using paper, fabric, and other upcycled materials. Highlight #1: A close look at collections objects in the Museum’s storerooms. Highlight #2: Intro to hands-on project- making paper and fabric beads
Fall Foliage Scavenger Hunt in Brooklyn Bridge Park
Wednesday November 4th 3-5p (the scavenger hunt scheduled for October 29th has been rescheduled to 11/4) . This event is free and advanced registration is required. Register here to reserve a time slot for your group. This month’s Conservancy scavenger hunt will take place at Pier 1 and focus on the seasonal changes in the Park! Pier 1 is the oldest section of the park, which means it is also the area with the largest trees and a great spot to observe fall foliage. This activity is family-friendly, and while all ages are welcome to participate, we think kids ages 4-12 will most enjoy it! The scavenger hunt is self-led, but our educators will be stationed at a check-in table for you to pick up a poster and prize once you complete the hunt. You will also receive an email 2 days before with an electronic copy of the scavenger hunt, if contactless participation is preferred.

Virtual Cloth Diapering 101 with Diaperkind
Thursday November 5th 7p. Important: In order to maintain social distancing and keep our Diaperkind space “safe”, all of our 101 classes will be virtual for the foreseeable future. Register now and login instruction will be emailed the day of the class. Online classes are free. Do you find yourself wondering…Why choose cloth over disposables? What are the different cloth and hybrid styles available? What do they look and feel like? And how do they each work? How will their use impact my life, my pocketbook and the environment? Jumpin’ Jams Online Music Class
Fridays 9-945a until December 18th (none 11/27). $18/class. For ages 3m-6y. This is a LIVE online, interactive version of our hoppin’ music classes! You can login thru Zoom (we’ll send you the link, once registered) and join the fun! Register here. We will go on a musical train ride, get down and boogie, and check out different instruments while jamming along with fun, age appropriate music. Many of the movement based songs are designed to reinforce early language development and an understanding of the world around them. Come jam with us!

Spineless Exhibit at The New York Aquarium (Coney Island)

The Nature of Color Exhibit at American Museum of Natural History (UWS)
Museum is open Wednesdays-Sundays with timed entry tickets are available 10a-4p (museum closes 530p). Exhibit is open until March 8, 2021. Children’s Museum of Manhattan at Home
CMOM is now open Wednesday-Sunday 10a-5p. CMOM at Home is still ongoing. Activities are sent in a daily email newsletter. CMOM can still be a part of your day through videos, sing-a-longs, games and so much more for you to do together with your family at home! Sign up for emails here. From slime-making, dance parties and being transported to Japan with a recipe for sushi, to making animal puppets from recycled materials around the house, creating a bedtime routine and storytimes, “CMOM at Home” is sure to delight.
