Don’t forget to wear your most fun and festive mask! Suzi Shelton is a music and movement specialist, teacher, and family performer. She has been rocking parents and kids alike for over 10+ years in such prestigious venues as Symphony Space and the White House Easter Egg Hunt.

Stairwell Theater presents “Henry VI: Part 1” at Old Stone House (Park Slope)

Movies Under the Stars: The Secret: Dare to Dream in Tecumseh Playground (UWS)
Friday August 27th 8-1030p. Free. Join NYC Parks and the New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment for a free film! Though hardworking, Miranda Wells is struggling to raise her three children. When a huge storm devastates their area, it presents her with another hard challenge to overcome. Fortunately, along with that came Bray Johnson, a person who believes in the power of positive thinking. Within a few days of knowing each other, Bray successfully reignites the fire of hope in Miranda’s heart. Unbeknownst to her, he carries a secret that could easily change everything between them. Join us for TheaterWorksUSA’s Dog Man: The Musical Creative Adventure! Participants cycle through four creation stations that include singing, acting, dancing, and crafting their very own Dog Man: The Musical costume pieces. Participants will perform a short song and dance for family and friends at the end of the session.Participants will be invited to get active in their bodies so we strongly suggest wearing comfortable clothes and sneakers. Concerts for Kids: Yasser Tejeda at Restart Stages at Lincoln Center (UWS)

Battle of Brooklyn: An 18th Century American Faire in Green-Wood Cemetery (DATE CHANGE)
Sunday August 29th 11a-3p. Free, suggested donation $5. Due to forecasted rain, this event has been moved from Saturday, August 28th to Sunday, August 29th. There is no need to register for this event, just arrive at Green-Wood’s Main Entrance and you are welcome to join! The Battle of Brooklyn, fought in 1776 on land that is now a part of Green-Wood, was the first battle of the American Revolution to occur after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. To honor those who bravely fought to defend the new republic and learn more about their lives and the world they lived in, join us for a family-friendly afternoon with reenactors, demonstrations, music, storytelling, and hands-on activities. Presented with our friends at Old Stone House, you won’t want to miss this exploration of America’s past. This is an outdoor event, masks are strongly recommended regardless of vaccine status. Please follow directions/instructions from Green-Wood’s staff and ambassadors.
Queensboro Dance Festival’s Summer Sundays: Na Pua Mai Ka Lani Nuiok in Socrates Sculpture Park
Sunday August 29th 11a-12n. Free. No RSVP or pre-registration required. The Queensboro Dance Festival presents Summer Sundays at Socrates, a family-friendly class series led by various Queens-based dance groups. At Socrates Sculpture Park on Sunday, August 29, experience the grace and joy of hula dance and truly embrace a tropical summer vibe with teacher Na Pua Mai Ka Lani Nuiok.
Summer on the Hudson: Sun Gaze in Riverside Park South (UWS)
Sunday August 29th 1-4p and the last Sunday of every month between until 9/26/2021. Pre-registration for the event is required. Please register online. The Amateur Astronomers Association returns to Pier I with solar telescopes specifically designed to safely look at the sun and see sunspots and prominences under a summer sky. Citizen Science Fishing Clinics in Brooklyn Bridge Park
Sunday August 29th 230-530p. Free. All ages welcome, equipment provided on site. This event is now walk-up only. We will also do our utmost to accommodate as many walk-ups as space allows. Take part in our citizen science Fishing Clinics and contribute to ecological surveys with marine biologists. The Conservancy’s rod and reel clinics are designed to introduce the public to the ecology and life of the East River, in order to foster conservation and environmental stewardship of our waterways. Working with expert anglers and a marine biologist, participants will learn the basics of line fishing, while contributing to an ecological survey — helping to monitor the health of our river. All organisms caught are cared for by professionals and safely returned back to the water.
Movies Under the Stars: Dolitte in Maria Hernandez Park (Bushwick)

Godzilla vs. Kong at The Brooklyn Army Terminal (Sunset Park)

New York Yoyo Show in Bryant Park (Midtown East)
Saturday August 28th 11a-12n & 1230-130p and Sunday August 29th 3-4p & 430-530p, Free. The New York Yoyo Show is for people of all ages and skill levels. What do you get when you combine the singing and dancing of the Broadway Theater with jaw-dropping yoyo skills? You get The New York Yoyo Show! Join Brian Kilmowski (the yoyo guy) by Le Carrousel and the Games Area for a truly unique performance and free yoyo lessons. Attendees will be captivated with advanced yoyo demos, broadway-style musical numbers, modern yoyo magic, and the grand finale, featuring the World’s Longest Yoyo String.
Putting Green Mini Golf (Williamsburg)
Mondays-Wednesday 12n-8p, Thursdays-Sundays 10a-8p. Admissions: $10 adults, $5 kids/seniors (Wednesdays before 5p & Saturdays before 1p $5 adults, $2 kids/seniors). All profits will be donated to local nonprofit organizations addressing climate change in NYC. PUTTING GREEN is an 18-hole mini golf course open to the public on the waterfront in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This neighborhood pop-up is designed to showcase the problems and solutions for some of the most pressing climate change issues facing our planet. Each of the 18 holes has been designed by a community partner, including artists and designers, community and school groups, environmental advocacy organizations and public agencies. Splash Pad in Prospect Park
Ongoing 10a-7p until September 6th. Free. Location: LeFrak Center at Lakeside. The Splash Pad, named Best of New York by New York Magazine, is Prospect Park’s largest water play area, with 47 water spray jets covering 16,000 square feet to provide hours of warm-weather fun. Open free to the public for children 12 years of age and under in season.
Tall Ship Wavertree at South Street Seaport
Open Friday-Sundays 11a-5p through October 2021. The permanently-moored 1885 tall ship Wavertree will be open to the public for FREE with timed entry, from at Pier 16 (Fulton and South Streets). Visits will be self-guided along a set route and will include access to the main deck and quarter deck. Learn how people worked and lived aboard a 19th century cargo sailing vessel, from the captain to the ship’s officers, cooks, and crew. Then visit the cargo hold and stand atop the viewing platform where you can take in the massive main cargo area.The Museum will allow no more than 150 guests on board the ship at any time to encourage social distancing from different households. All guests above the age of 2 will be required to wear a face covering at all times aboard Wavertree and at the Museum’s pop-up gift shop. Reserve tickets here.
The Carousel in Prospect Park
Thursdays-Sundays 12n-5p. Tickets are $2.50 or book of 5 for $11.50. The Prospect Park Carousel + Pony Express Snack Bar open on April 29! COVID-19 Update: The Prospect Park Carousel is open with COVID-19 protocols in place, including social distancing, enhanced cleaning and reduced capacity on the ride. Tickets are first come, first served.
Free Bike Mornings on Governors Island
Mondays-Fridays 10a-12n. Free. Blazing Saddles offers bikes, surreys, pedal cars, scooters and more for rental. Free Bike Mornings allow visitors to borrow a bike from Blazing Saddles for free for up to one hour every weekday between 10 AM and noon. Come visit Blazing Saddles at the north end of Colonels Row and bike the Island! This year you need a reservation for the ferry. See the website for all the details.
The Yard – Adventure Playground on Governors Island
Saturdays-Sundays 12n-4p. Free. Welcome back to The Yard, New York City’s only adventure playground! The Yard offers free weekend play with Covid safety protocols in place. The Yard is a kids-only space recommended for young people ages 6 to 18, stewarded by trained playworkers. The Yard supplies young people with loose parts materials for building, exploring, imagining and destroying. Rules and more information: No more than 35 children at a time will be allowed in The Yard. Children must be over 5 years old. Masks are required. Urban Farm Exploration Days! in Randall’s Island Park
Saturdays-Sundays 10a-4p until October 17th. Free. Explore the Randall’s Island Urban Farm’s variety of crops, rice paddies, fragrant herbs, and meet the chickens too! All ages welcome!
The Nature of Color Exhibit at American Museum of Natural History (UWS)
Museum is open Wednesdays-Sundays with timed entry tickets are available 10a-4p (museum closes 530p). Exhibit is open until December 5, 2021. Select a General Admission + One or General Admission + All ticket, choose date and time of entry to the Museum, then select The Nature of Color. Reserve tickets here. Our world is awash in color.
