Hi everyone! Hard to believe the summer is almost over and if you are in NYC this long weekend there are lots to enjoy with the family.

Friday September 3rd
12th Annual NYC Unicycle Festival Ride through Brooklyn
Friday September 3rd at 2p. Free to watch. Unicycle riders will will pedal through Brooklyn following the pre-COVID route. Starting on the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn Bridge, we will unicycle through Downtown Brooklyn all the way to Prospect Park, where we’ll stop and rest our wheels, Then we’ll cross the hiway and glide down Ocean Parkway to Coney Island where we hope to be treated to a ride on the Wonderwheel. Summer on the Hudson: Bingo! in West Harlem Piers Park
Fridays 530-7p in September. Free. Location: 125th Street and Marginal Street. BYO food and beverages to this all ages, free to enter, B-I-N-G-O night. A mix of music plays as the numbers roll out and each game winner receives a prize. Pre-registration for the event is required. Management reserves the right to cap participation in accordance with current COVID-19 outdoor safety guidelines.
Late Nights on Governors Island
Friday-Saturday September 3-4th Governors Island will be open until 10p (last weekend for late nights) with additional ferry service from the Battery Maritime Building at 10 South Street in Manhattan. There will be plenty to see, eat, and do during these extra hours. Visitors will have their pick of delicious food and beverages! Click here to view the expanded schedule and reserve your tickets.
Movies Under the Stars: Playmobil the Movie in Playground 103 CIII (Carnegie Hill)
Friday September 3rd 730-10p. Free. Join NYC Parks and the New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment for a free film! Animated feature film inspired by the Playmobil brand toys. Rated PG. Grab a blanket and come enjoy a movie in a neighborhood park or playground! This summer, NYC Parks will host family-friendly movie showings across the five boroughs. Movies begin at dusk. You should arrive before 7:30 p.m. to get your spot. This event is FREE and open to the public, but seating is limited. Reservations are not taken. Please see website for Covid-19 protocols.

Children’s Read Aloud in Randall’s Island Park
First Saturday of the month 10-11a until October 2nd. Location: Urban Farm. Free. Boogie Down Storytime is a family-friendly experience that cultivates early literacy awareness through joyful reading experiences. An interactive read-aloud that incorporates mindful breathing, which helps build social-emotional skills along with question and discussion activities that build community. Movement inspired by the week’s book selection led by a children’s yoga teacher.
2021 Richmond County Fair at Historic Richmond Town (Staten Island)
Saturday-Monday September 4th-6th 12n-6p. Online tickets: $9 adults 12+, $4 kids 3-12, free kids 0-3, $7 seniors. See website for at the door ticket prices and to purchase online tickets. The Richmond County Fair is Staten Island’s annual community celebration and Historic Richmond Town’s biggest fundraiser. Hands on History: Make Your Own Historic Ink in Rufus King Park (Jamaica)
Saturday September 4th 1-4p. Free. Location: King Manor Museum. No reservation needed! Celebrate Constitution Day and Citizenship Day with King Manor by making your own historic ink! The Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787 and the framers of the Constitution (like Rufus King!) used oak gall ink to sign it. Join us in making oak gall ink and then practice writing with quill pens!
Rock and Roll Playhouse: Music of The Beach Boys for Kids at Industry City (Sunset Park)
Saturday September 4th 1-2p . Ticket: $5. This concert for kids and families shares the music of The Beach Boys with a new generation of music lovers, but is not associated with or endorsed by the artist. All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver. Tickets required for everyone over the age of 1 years old. Everyone over the age of 2 years old is required to wear a mask. Movies Under the Stars: Sister Act in Frederick Douglass Playground
Saturday September 4th 730-10p. Free. Join NYC Parks and the New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment for a free film! After witnessing her gangster boyfriend commit a murder, a lounge singer hides out in a convent. While adjusting to her new conditions, Deloris helps transform the choir, thus attracting a lot of attention. Rated PG. Grab a blanket and come enjoy a movie in a neighborhood park or playground! Back to School Festival in Rockaway Beach & Boardwalk
Sunday September 5th 12n-4p. Free. Location: O’Donohue Park. Join Council Member Selvena Brooks-Powers and NYC Parks as they present this fun day of family activities at O’Donohue Park. The event will feature games, obstacle course, crafts, music, Mounted Unit horses for photo-op, giveaways, and more.
Virtual Sea Chanteys and Maritime Music Broadcast
Sunday April 4th 2-4p. Free. Sign up here to receive the Zoom link 24 hours prior. South Street Seaport Museum’s monthly Sea Chanteys and Maritime Music continues – virtually. From our living rooms and kitchens, and even from the deck of Wavertree, join us for our round-robin of shared sea songs, featuring members of The New York Packet and friends. Listen in, lead or request a song, and belt out the choruses for your neighbors to hear. Hosted by singers from the New York Packet.
Music in the Park with Staten Island Philharmonic at The Conference House
Sunday September 5th 4-6p. Free. Enjoy music under the trees with the SI Philharmonic. For our mutual safety at all planned events, whether indoor or outdoor, masks must be worn and social distancing guidelines must be followed.

Nature Bites: Poison Ivy (virtual)

Join Environmental Educator Karen Roos for this Tick Safety Nature Bite video to learn how to avoid ticks so that you, and your pets, can hike safely through our beautiful Greenbelt trails.
Labor Day at Children’s Museum of Manhattan (UWS)
Monday September 6th 10a-12n, 1230-230p & 3-5p. Tickets: $15 per person, $12 seniors & visitior with disabilities (infant under 1 free). CMOM is open on Labor Day! You can now visit all your favorite CMOM exhibitions at your own pace! All museum exhibits and activities are included with your timed ticket. Please note special hours for Dynamic H20 10-430p. Visitors are encouraged to reserve their timed tickets in advance. Capacity is limited. The Key to NYC New York City requires all CMOM staff and visitors to be vaccinated against Covid-19 to enter the Museum. All adults and children ages 12 and above must show proof of at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and visitors ages 18 and above must also show identification.

Time Square Wheel
Daily 12n-1159p until Sunday September 12th. Tickets: $20 per person for general admission, $15 per person for children 2–10 and $35 per person for VIP / Skip the line.Location: Broadway between 47th – 48th Sts. Ride a state-of-the-art ferris wheel in the Crossroads of the World, and soar up 110 feet through a canyon of spectacular billboards, getting an entirely new vantage point on Times Square. Putting Green Mini Golf (Williamsburg)
Mondays-Wednesday 12n-8p, Thursdays-Sundays 10a-8p. Admissions: $10 adults, $5 kids/seniors (Wednesdays before 5p & Saturdays before 1p $5 adults, $2 kids/seniors). All profits will be donated to local nonprofit organizations addressing climate change in NYC. PUTTING GREEN is an 18-hole mini golf course open to the public on the waterfront in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This neighborhood pop-up is designed to showcase the problems and solutions for some of the most pressing climate change issues facing our planet. Each of the 18 holes has been designed by a community partner, including artists and designers, community and school groups, environmental advocacy organizations and public agencies. Splash Pad in Prospect Park
Ongoing 10a-7p until September 6th. Free. Location: LeFrak Center at Lakeside. The Splash Pad, named Best of New York by New York Magazine, is Prospect Park’s largest water play area, with 47 water spray jets covering 16,000 square feet to provide hours of warm-weather fun. Open free to the public for children 12 years of age and under in season.
Tall Ship Wavertree at South Street Seaport
Open Friday-Sundays 11a-5p through October 2021. The permanently-moored 1885 tall ship Wavertree will be open to the public for FREE with timed entry, from at Pier 16 (Fulton and South Streets). Visits will be self-guided along a set route and will include access to the main deck and quarter deck. Learn how people worked and lived aboard a 19th century cargo sailing vessel, from the captain to the ship’s officers, cooks, and crew. Then visit the cargo hold and stand atop the viewing platform where you can take in the massive main cargo area.The Museum will allow no more than 150 guests on board the ship at any time to encourage social distancing from different households. All guests above the age of 2 will be required to wear a face covering at all times aboard Wavertree and at the Museum’s pop-up gift shop. Reserve tickets here.
The Carousel in Prospect Park
Thursdays-Sundays 12n-6p and holidays. Tickets are $2.50 or book of 5 for $11.50. The Prospect Park Carousel + Pony Express Snack Bar open on April 29! COVID-19 Update: The Prospect Park Carousel is open with COVID-19 protocols in place, including social distancing, enhanced cleaning and reduced capacity on the ride. Tickets are first come, first served.
Free Bike Mornings on Governors Island
Mondays-Fridays 10a-12n. Free. Blazing Saddles offers bikes, surreys, pedal cars, scooters and more for rental. Free Bike Mornings allow visitors to borrow a bike from Blazing Saddles for free for up to one hour every weekday between 10 AM and noon. Come visit Blazing Saddles at the north end of Colonels Row and bike the Island! This year you need a reservation for the ferry. See the website for all the details.
The Yard – Adventure Playground on Governors Island
Saturdays-Sundays 12n-4p. Free. Welcome back to The Yard, New York City’s only adventure playground! The Yard offers free weekend play with Covid safety protocols in place. The Yard is a kids-only space recommended for young people ages 6 to 18, stewarded by trained playworkers. The Yard supplies young people with loose parts materials for building, exploring, imagining and destroying. Rules and more information: No more than 35 children at a time will be allowed in The Yard. Children must be over 5 years old. Masks are required. Urban Farm Exploration Days! in Randall’s Island Park
Saturdays-Sundays 10a-4p until October 17th. Free. Explore the Randall’s Island Urban Farm’s variety of crops, rice paddies, fragrant herbs, and meet the chickens too! All ages welcome!
The Nature of Color Exhibit at American Museum of Natural History (UWS)
Museum is open Wednesdays-Sundays with timed entry tickets are available 10a-4p (museum closes 530p). Exhibit is open until December 5, 2021. Select a General Admission + One or General Admission + All ticket, choose date and time of entry to the Museum, then select The Nature of Color. Reserve tickets here. Our world is awash in color.
